vanz Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 anyone successfully got snails to reproduce? I think I have a few cerith snail babies crawling around my glass. They are coned shaped. Let me try to take a picture and you guys can ID. I also have these white dots all over my tank, on the glass and on the rocks. They are ~2mm in diameter. Pure white. Quote
dippin61 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 most likely they are either pyramid snails, or some rissoids http://www.reefland.com/rho/2006/05/identify_rissoid_pyramidellid_snails.php Quote
impur Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Yes i have had baby ceriths, probably 3 or so survived the last time i saw eggs on the glass. I have watched them grow from about a 1/4" when i first saw them. Here were the eggs Quote
impur Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I have those white dots too. I think they are FW eggs or something. I don't know for sure. Quote

The zoos don't look attacked. At least they don't look like they are...aww man. Impur, yeah my ceriths use to paint the walls with their eggs, that was a long time ago though. I only have one cerith left. Quote
vanz Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 Here are the white things. I'm trying to see if they move so I have them marked. We'll see if they are eggs are not. Quote
impur Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Yah those are the same thing i have. Very odd. Quote
rmhuntley Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I had stomatillas(sp) breed not long ago.... now they're EVERYWHERE Quote
Ronjunior Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I saw something in my tank last night with a flashlight, well a few new bugs, but one looked like a neon green snail shaped sort of thing without the shell. I didn't have any lights on besides a normal flashlight so the coloring wasn't from anything else, room was dark....wondering what it was. If he comes out again tonight, I'll try to snap a picture. oldbrownies Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 stomi's and astreas reproduce in my tank. the astreas have a pretty low survival rate for me... but i just make sure they have a calm place where they wont get sucked into a pump. its just my corner overflow, i have a tube that is all the way at the top. so downlow the eggs collect and they snails grow up and when they are old enough they crawl up the sides and into the tank Quote
pcsdlszr Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 We've been fortunate, we've had baby stomies and have baby trochus (these little guys are so cute, not sure I can post a pic) Quote

Don't know what he is, haven't seen one like it elsewhere. Quote
oldbrownies Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 a good population of happy stomies is GREAT for a reef... mine pretty much feed the whole tank breeding that is Quote
