Ronjunior Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Anyone know where i can get some? I don't care if its silica. I can only find grey construction sand at HD and Jerrys. I just want some white sand that i can buy several bags of. I bought 100 pound bags of Quickcrete Commercial sand at Lowes for around $7.50. Very fine white silica. I wouldn't suggest using it unless you glue it down. Quote
impur Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 Yah i'll try rexius thanks. Ron i'm using it to make rock, so it'll be cemented into the rock and also used as a mold. Quote
impur Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 Eh, Rexius only has beach sand. Might work but i'm not sure what might be in it, not to mention what it might have picked up between the beach and here. To bad we don't have a Lowe's Quote
Ronjunior Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 To bad we don't have a Lowe's Really? Probably won't be long. Call the Mfg. to find local distributor of their commercial grade sand. http://www.quikrete.com/ 1-800-282-5828. I asked the store to peek in a bag just to make sure it was white before driving out. (the MSDS sheet mentioned other colors possible as I remember) Quote

Ronjunior Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Cool thanks for the info, i'm calling right now. GRRRR they are closed for their company xmas party! That reminds me, I better go get the hot water brewing for ours tonight. It's easy to get sucked into this internet thing! Good luck. Quote
Ronjunior Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 heh thanks. Have a good party! It will be fun! I'm glad we get to enjoy it for 2 nights this year. It's the highlight of my year! After it's all over, it's like Christmas has already passed it's that powering! We already have about 35 presents and food and it doesn't start 'til 6:30! It's a good thing I went to start boiling water, I didn't realize I used up the last of the coffee beans a few days ago and made a mad dash to the store. Quote

Barleychown Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Let me ask Mike where the white bag of sand in our garage came from...I think it's from the local hardware store. Quote
Barleychown Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Okay, it's a 50 pound bag for 6 bucks from Cascade. Typically used for sandblasting, says it's silica. Let me know if you need more info. Quote
impur Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 Thats perfect, thanks a TON Sarah. Quote
Barleychown Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 No problem at all...you will want to call to make sure they have it in one of the two stores before driving down. One is in Creswell, the other in Cottage Grove. If they have trouble understanding what you are after, let me know. We spend a LOT of time there, and know quite a few of them VERY well. Ahh...the joys of building. Quote
