WAVES
Sure you could try that but I'm not sure why would you want to do that over just buy the needle wheel/venturi version. Actually I just looked online and you can buy GenX 4100 needle pump with venturi setup for $54 and the regular one is $48 Wow great price! $10 more than your LFS!~

H20cooled
If anyone is looking to do the mesh mod on there skimmer I bought a very large sheet of the good nylon mesh the same as they are using on the Ehiems. It is very strong but open and suppose to produce the best bubbles and air. I will let some go for very cheap. Rich

impur
Hey Rich where did you get it? I'd like to give it a try on my skimmer in place of the fishing line. I'll see if i can find it down here.
H20cooled
Joel, I'll bring some in for you. Miles, I had to buy it online as I could not find any locally. The stuff is used for erosion control. I got it from http://www.aquaticeco.com/ I could throw a small piece in the mail for you to use if you want. H20cooled
Don't use it, it will not last for more then 3 days on your pump. That is the reason why I bought the mesh that I'm using.
oldbrownies
I did a similar thing to what piero showed on an excalibur skimmer with a rio 800, and it only lasted about 10 hours before it was torn to nothing get a nice tough scubber or somethign like that
Piero
good to know, because it looked pretty good. thanks.
oldbrownies
it looked good to me too, but the stuff just isn't strong enough, if it were strong though, the little fibers would have been perfect for breaking up bubbles
H20cooled
Actually the fibers on that other material are really to close together to give you the best performance. The mesh that you see on my seems to work the best. Its the same stuff that ATI is using on there new skimmer line and ER is using on there new pumps.
