Ronjunior
I'm not sure where I saw this the other day, but I saw a great use for egg crate screening. When puréeing your homemade fish meals with some gelatin, they laid the screening on a cookie sheet, poured in the blender mixture, then froze; homemade frozen fish food cubes...... Maybe it was the 2 minutes of Martha Stewart that I watched...(puke)

cyenna
ok, ok, old thread but i too pondered on the term egg crate and thought i'd share what I have decided is the answer: if you go to a store like winco where they sell eggs by 5 dozen, you'll see that they are in crates made out of our "egg crate" material. JManrow
yup.. its light diffuser/louvre' date=' (actually those coverings you see in offices over their flourecent lighting.) not sure where the term eggcrate came from.[/quote'] Cadillac started using the term "egg crate grille" in the 1940's & 1950's.
