ciao
So after taking the advice of some people here on the board, I've installed a standpipe into my cover overflow boxes and I have to admit it's cut the noise down by at least 85% now which is very acceptable since I like the sound of running water(within reason ). Since the water is so much higher now, I've heard of other people here on the board using the corner overflow boxes as a refugium. I'm curious though how do you prevent the possibility of the macroalgae clogging up the pipe and causing massive overflowing of the tank? My biggest worry is that a chunk of the macroalgae gets sucked into the pipe and causes a clog that will prevent the water from draining. The last thing I want is water to overflow the tank and causing a massive flood in my living room. (scary) I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks
AquaticEngineer
If you have room in your sump I'd do the fuge down there. Less risk, more room for macro algae.
CA2OR
+1 on doing below. You could put LRR in there though
pledosophy
Macroalgae will clog your drain in time. Placing a refugium inline before the skimmer is a poor choice IME. JMO
