Mandinga
Is there something people should be forewardned about when it comes to adding Dead sand on top of a Live sand bed? Will the population fro below just migrate upward?
Michael7979
If you do add any sand to your tank it should be added slowly over time and in very thin layers. This gives the 'old' sand a chance to make the new sand 'live' without suffacatting the 'old', so to speak. Hope that makes sence to you. Michael7979
I should add that you do not want to stir up your sandbed very much either. So that is the reason for the slow addition.
Mandinga
I recently added about 1/2" of sand to my existing sand bed and I think it was just too much...I should probably spread the addition out over a few weeks...I need to add about 2", but i think you are right, the critters may suffocate.
