My parameters are good and I just added two more Koralias to the tank. I will try the chemi clean because this has become very annoying. I have been battling this for almost two months now.

I have tried manual removal, GFO, Carbon, water changes, varying light times, and less feedings. All to no avail.

Definately dinos. I would wait Shane, didn't you just change salts? Give the new salt a try before adding any chemicals. You may also try reducing the amount you feed. I only use chemicals as a last resort. It is only putting a bandaid on the problem usually.

I agree, I had that stuff for a while after adding about 15 lbs of dry base rock, it was active for abought 2 weeks and over the last 2 weeks its changed to plain old green alge that the snails are slowly taking care of.

I don't like band aids and chemicals, either. However, Chemiclean (got the tip from impur)does work and has proven to be benificial when used infrequently for me. I used it once 3 months ago and haven't had another outbreak. Felt it gave me the break to get to the cause. YMMV.

didn't you just change salts?

I am on the first Bob. I just used the last of the Seachem salt this weekend. I am switching to DD H2Ocean as I am not a big fan of Seachem.

when you say you did water changes how often and how much water were you changing

25 gallons every two weeks on a 90 gallon tank with a total volume of roughly 120 gallons.

Felt it gave me the break to get to the cause

Hence my frustration. I can't find the cause. I would fix whatever is wrong but I can't seem to find it. Other then my PH running between 8.1 during the day and 7.8 at night everything "seems" fine parameter wise. If you think actual numbers will help I will post those up.

The tank is 8 months old. I am running two 250w Radiums with two 36" T-5's. One is a 75.25 the other is Actinic. I am running a refugium with with a mixture of algea, sand bed and live rock. I have live rock in the sump and use a sock which I change twice a week. I run BRS High Capacity GFO and BRS carbon thorugh two TLF reactors. I have two K-3's and two K-1's for flow including four 3/4" returns. I run the T-5's from 9-10, MH from 10-9 and I run the refugium lighting opposite the main tank.

PH varies from 8.1(day) ~ 7.8(night)

Nitrites - 0

Nitrates - ~5

ALK - 11.4dkh

Calc - 420ppm

Mag- 1380

Ammonia - 0

Phosphates - 0

I feed once a day and I use about quarter size piece of Patricks Gumbo. I can't think of anything else at the moment but if you have questions please ask. Thanks.

Ionce orderedsome liverock from ebay..big mistake. It was not fresh and was kind of rotting. I cured it and put it in my tank. My tank got this infection and had similer crud like in your picture. It would make big long strings filled with bubbles and break off and float around the tank. This stuff lasted for months and months till I combined 2 of my tanks togather it finally slowly went away. I think it was some kind of cyano or some slime algae but it would cover everything includeing powerhead cords. I have used chemi-clean many times. Its great stuff but be sure to follow the instructions closely.
