H20cooled
If you take care of them and keep the clean they should last a LONG time. Another very cool thing with them is that you can buy spare parts for every peice on the pump, so if the prop breaks you can buy a new one. For customer service the easiest and fastest way is to contact Roger on Reefcentral, he is the US Tunze guy and has very very good customer service. As an example, after 4 months of using my Tunze skimmer I toke it apart and found a front house piece that was broken. I contacted Roger and he has out a replace piece with no questions asked and free of charge. To me that is some of the best customer service that I have ever had. Not sure about the setting on the single controller.
impur
Ugh $600. You can get the same flow from a $20 maxijet and 10 bucks in parts. The controller is the kicker, that makes the Tunze really sweet. But for straight up flow, nothing beats the bang for the buck of a MJ1200 modded. siskiou
I did go for the $260 deal and should receive the Tunze next week. What's another month of extra work in the long run, right? Miles, I'll still go for a modded MJ for more flow if needed!
H20cooled
I've tried out the Maxi-jet mod and I can tell you first hand they are nothing compared to the Tunze stream, the flow is different and its not even half as strong as the tunze. drock59
I dont think the single controller will produce wave action. If you buy the Y cable and have two pumps on a single controller positioned correctly, you may be able to get a little bit of a wave. PS. Im lovin the Tunze. No detritus anyware. Its glorious. siskiou
I thought the controller makes it possible to "pulse" the pump at intervalls, thus creating a wave motion.
drock59
you can pulse it but it doesnt necessarily make a wave.
siskiou
My used Tunze arrived yesterday, and while it's a bit bulky, it sure puts out some nice flow! Anyone want to recommend some good starter setttings for the controller? I currently have power 1 set a minimum and power 2 at max, with the pulse set at switching about every 10 seconds. siskiou
Cool how bout some pics??? I'll give it a try this weekend, though I'm not sure if a picture will show much. Am kind of miserable today and just vegging out until the migraine goes away completely. Let me know if you want to come by and see it in action some time! I do still want an MJ mod for some countercurrent!
siskiou
Thats what I have set also. I wasn't quite sure what power 1 and 2 meant at first, but then it started making sense.
