Just wanted to say "THANKS" to Calvin and his lovely wife, (sorry her name slips my mind- I'm horrible with names) for opening their home to us for the meeting!!!

Also want to thank Calvin for the trade we made and the coral I bought!! Brought home a couple monti. frags and a torch frag.

Thanks to Brandon aka finch6013 for the trade we made also. A nice green digitata.

Met some new people today,( Brandon, Luis, Steelhead77 to name a few), and got to talk to a few that I haven't seen in a while also,(Issac, Ryan, Dave to name a few).

Again THANX!!! Had a good time!

Thanks Calvin for hosting the meeting and for the great deals on the Elephant Skin frags and the RBTA. (The RBTA attached to a rock within just a few minutes so that's a good sign) While I'm at it thanks Dennis (Dsoz) for the 2 hammers. They are also opened up already which is another good sign. Had a chance to see several faces both old and new as well which was nice.

September PNWMAS Pictures

I would again like to thank Calvin for hosting another great PNWMAS Meeting!

I thought that I took some nice shots of fish and people, but all turned out blurry.:( I'm going to ask some advice on adjusting my shutter speed from some of our more experienced digital photographers!DOH!

Anyway... here are a few that are clear enough to post!

Try and get the shutter speed to somewhere between 1/30 and 1/60. 1/30 requires a steady hand. 1/60 isn't as critical but the lighting is usually too low.

Thanks. I have a Canon PowerShot A530. A point & shoot is what is affordable to me at this time. I suppose going through the manual that came with the camera is a good place to start! I tried the night-time setting, but it didn't seem to make much difference. Reef tanks usually seem to provide enough light, if I can just figure out how to adjust the shutter speed.

I haven't messed with the point and shoot cameras in awhile so I'm not sure what settings they have available. If you can manually set the shutter speed that will help a lot. If not then try the macro setting for close pictures of the tanks and utilize the flash for wide shots where the light isn't as strong. (Flash tends to stop motion) Just keep in mind the reflection and compensate. Take pics at an angle so the flash bounces away from the camera. You can also use a small piece of white paper at an anlge in front of the flash to reflect the flash toward the ceiling if the ceiling in the room is white. (Colored ceilings will add a tint to the picture)
