CA2OR
Tubbs blue's for $15 a polyp? Am I the only one that thinks that is a bit high? http://www.colorfulcoral.com/coral.php?id=377#coral
Rick
How about $30 a polyp? http://www.colorfulcoral.com/coral.php?id=500#coral I read an article on this awhile back and the only justification for this is that some people will pay these prices. At the collection end these cost the same amount as any others. Another thing that is interesting is that just by looking at them it is impossible to tell if 2 different corals came from the same colony no matter how much they look alike. (The likelihood that there are others that look almost identical from other colonies approaches 100%) Something else that is interesting is that 2 can come from the same colony and after being placed in 2 different tanks they may look like they are actually from different colonies. I have a small colony of Zoas that is purple that looks like it has some green polyps mixed in. In reality they are the same ones and just had less light than the others. (With more light they turn purple like the rest) With all of these things in mind I'll stick to either swapping with others or buying from stores where they have a set price for all of the Zoas regardless of what color they are. (Unless something has changed I believe DJL prices theirs that way)

Rick
......But I have gotten some nice pieces by waiting also!! That deal willl always come through at some point! Some of my favorites were either swapped with other members here or were free. It's sad to say but most of the ones I got from various LFS didn't survive for more than a month or two.
