finch6013
Anyone use or see the 250w sundial made by current usa? I am thinking of using one over a 34 solana and I cant decide what lighting to use. I will be keeping almost all sps
jason7504
what about this? http://www.petsolutions.com/Marineland-Pro-Series-HQIT5-Lighting+I47432980+C40001736.aspx spendy but nice
finch6013
I cant afford that but nice
jason7504
yeah its spendy but nice.. hmm the sundial would be a good light for you since it has some actinics..there's no other 250w lights with actinics that arent to spendy the coralife aqualight pro, is 250w with actinics though for not a bad price
finch6013
been looking at that too. The sunpod is best on price and I found some other places that have it at cheap. But the actinics are a plus
jason7504
yeah i would like actinics but i decided to just go with the 250w sunpod cuz of the price..and if i sell mine for 190-200 then i only have to pay 100 for it..you could always just run a radiuim or xm 20k bulb and would get some nice blue if you couldnt run actinics
finch6013
ya I just want to try a 14k and see if I get better sps growth. I am also looking at some of the sunlight supply pendants and just using one side of my balast or trading for a single 250w balast. Oh the choices! jason7504
well you will get better sps growth with the 14k phoenix cuz it has much higher PAR i will prolly just use a 250w phoenix 14k bulb cuz i like the balance of blue and white haha yeah theres lots of options

jason7504
that Hamilton Technology Belize Sun fixture is nice but kinda spendy at like 450 for just an extra 48w of T5
jason7504
have you settled on a light finch?

jason7504
cool..i won my sunpod on ebay but im just waiting to pay for it. i cant until my current sunpod sells on ebay.. i hope i can use it on legs over my solana cuz i dont wanna hang it up..but im worried about the heat with it that way
finch6013
I think heat will be an issue. I am going to hang mine on some DIY arms made out of 3/4'' conduit. being an electrician has its perks once in a great while
jason7504
yeah im sure it will since my tank already gets in the 80s with my
finch6013
I ended up finding a sunpod for 275 or something like that. Hopefully the price wasn't miss marked and that is what it ships for. I have had companies do that before.
finch6013
my 75 hits low 80's with 2 250's about 12'' from the surface so I think having small water volume with a 250 close the the water will be way to warm. I would hang it at least 10'' and have a clamp on fan blowing across the water
jason7504
i will def have to either get a chiller or a room A/C unit oh nice! was that with free shipping? oh that would be dirty if they did
jason7504
my solana hits around 82-83 in the summer, on average and 79-80 in the winter with my 150w and i have a fan blowing across the water man i really dont wanna hang a pendant though :/
finch6013
I hope you dont have to but I think it will happen. Personally I like the look of not having anything on top of the tank. Kinda the reason why I want the solana.
jason7504
i dont really want cables coming down though
finch6013
That is kinda where I thought with the arms the cables would only need to be a few inches long.
jason7504
but then you have big arms hanging over too
