Hog Head
I decided on the 72" Maristar fixture with 14k Phoenix and Giesemann Actinic+ bulbs. Never having used Metal Halides before, I don't know much about ballasts. Which is better, Blue Wave 3 or Galaxy and why? Which will be more reliable and at the same time provide the most light? Thanks, Gene
Lowman
Galaxy, they are by far the best ballasts I have ever used.
reef165
Are they electronic or cap-n-core? Has anyone opened eather one and seen what components are in them?
Hog Head
Are they electronic or cap-n-core? Has anyone opened eather one and seen what components are in them? BW3's are magnetic & Galaxy's are Electronic. I am also asking because a LFS SLS sales rep is recomending th BW 3's.
Krux
generally magnetic are cheaper, but electronic will save you some money over the life of tha ballast through energy conservation. if you can find the galaxy ballasts for cheaper than the blue waves you win twice.
