finch6013
Anyone know what size PVC is used on an octopus skimmer. I have the 800s HOB and I want to make a mod to it. I can figure out what size the pvc is. Its smaller than normal sched 40 and its not electrical condit size. I have tried everything I can find at HD and none is right. lancecobb1
I have an octopus rps2000, I think the pipe is a metric size and I couldnt find any at home depot either. I got the size that was just bigger than the one you need and sanded it to fit. Kind of a pain in the arse. Lance
finch6013
I was considering this. The one that is just bigger is just barely larger. I didn't know pvc came in metric but that would make sense. The PVC is the dark grey.
defigart
I think its ABS not PVC
finch6013
where do I get abs? I didn't see anything that looked like it at HD
defigart
They carry it at Lowes, though I cant say they carry it that small. Can you measure the inside diameter and outside diameter for me? I think I have a wholesale supplier that has it. How many feet (or inches) do you think you will need?
finch6013
Well I could measure it. I would have to take the skimmer appart and Im not really wanting to do that right now. When I do come in need of it I will let you know if I cant find what I am looking for. I am just looking to extend the return which is probably 1 1/4 and the intake that is probably 1''. So I would only need 6'' of each
defigart
OK. Ill call in the morning and see if they carry it for sure. Then I'll know for the future too.
SULLY
It is metric. You can take the female piece of the fitting and sand out the inside some so the regular pvc will fit. People do it all the time.
finch6013
I will more than likely just sand a peice to fit when the time comes. thanks for the help so far on figuring this out
chewie
I think its ABS not PVC ABS pipe is black, not gray. The PVC on octo's is metric. They don't do standard PVC in china Harrington plastics (Tigard) can get standard to metric adapters but it's just as easy to buy an oversized fitting and either use a bunch of teflon tape or thick solvent(weld-on 40). Or sand down a smaller fitting to fit. Are you trying to attach a different pump to your skimmer? Gate valve?
impur
You could also use one of those rubber boots they make for plumbing. Just don't use the metal clamps that come with it, go with plastic.

pledosophy
I don't know why you posted that picture of me. That's not why I sent it to you. I was trying to help you with your work out plan to score more ladies. I feel violated. . . I have a PCI knock off, but I thought they were the same.
