  1. oh wow another 29 Biocube thread.

Biocube 29's are easily one of the most common tanks in this hobby, especially for nano's, so its no surprise that thats my first salty tank. i have about 30 pounds of live rock in the tank, in an arrangement that I think should do well. my current plan is to have this be a euphyllia dominated tank, with Frogspawn, Torches and maybe a Hammer. Im also considering a dedicated Zoa rock and maybe a few other things. all LPS or Softies though. my current stocking is 8 hermits, 2 turbos, one Occelaris clown, one Banggai Cardinal, one Royal Damsel, and one Lawnmower blenny. .its been setup for about two months, and im just about to get started with a few corals. starting with hopefully a frogspawn or two this weekend.while this is my first saltwater tank, it is my 4th overall tank, I have 3 others. a 29 gallon high-tech planted tropical community tank, a 20 gal low-tech planted freshwater semi-aggressive tank, and a 20 gallon tank with my first, and favorite, fish, a big ol' goldie named Jasper. so while this is my first dive into saltwater,(other than cliffjumping in cabo a few years back), I think that im on the right track, however any and all suggestions and tips are GREATLY appreciated, cause I think I know a good bit, but I probably dont. pics to come, thanks for reading!
  2. afresh's biocube

Hello pnwmas! My name is Allen, I have Biocube that I would love to share to the community. I've had the tank up and running for little over 5 years. The tank started out as a LPS and softy tank but that changed as my understanding grew. The last 2 years I have switch the tank to a more mix reef, adding SPS while keeping some LPS and softies to keep the tank diverse. This transition has been challenging at best but as I fine-tuned my knowledge that I have acquired though the tanks life, my goals quickly changed as to keep a stable and successful long term mixed reef tank that I could be proud of. Hope you enjoy it! Here are some pics. .
  3. Hello everyone, Its been three month since I start my aquarium and it finished the cycle within two months. Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrite are undetectable. I'm ready to add some corals now. Aquarium parameters Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrite Untraceble to the test kit Temperature - 77 F (+/- 0.3 F) Specific gravity 1.026 What is in my system now Bought BRS Water saver plus RO/DI unit with the RO reserver tank/faucet (I could justify this to my wife DI unit is seperate- Who can resist clean water ) I have 40 lbs of CaribSea Speacial grade live sand ( it created 1" sandbed) and Dry rock from BRS. 50g Cube 8g sump 20g refugium with 20 lb of live sand (Looking for Macro Algae that won't go sexual) 10g RO/DI reservoir gravity fed with a fixed float valve Oceanreview T247 LED 10" above water surface running blue at 100% (0700 - 2200) and daylight at 50% (1200 - 1900) Skimz mini 143 skimmer Eheim heater I do 20% water changes every week BRS media rector (two chambers) Have two happy fat clowns that I bought in 2013 and the aquarium that hosted them have thousands of Ampe/cope pods which I will carefully transfer to the new sump Plannig to add the followings soon 2 MP10's (will this be over kill? and does any one have MP10 that need to get rid of so I can get them cheap) Calcium reactor: Planning to buy AquaMaxx S-NANO Calcium Reactor ( any other suggestions are welcome) Aquarium monitor and control system (Reefkeeper or APEX? How about Seneye?) Since this is a small tank I'm planning only to keep SPS, LPS (may be 2-3) and few Zoas. Following are what in my mind. They are pictures I got from internet and do not know the names of most of them (Can someone tell me the name of these corals). Obviously I won't be able to host all the SPS in my tank. Following are the cleanup crew I'm planning to order. Nassarius snails - 2 Blackfoot Trochus snail - 1 (After 6 months or if I have algae) Blueleg Hermit - 1 Regleg hermit - 1 Cerith snails - 4 Emerald crab - 1 (Tiny one after 1 year or if I have hair algae) Sand shifting goby - 1 (After 1 year. Can I add this guy since my sand grain size is large. Will the sand hurt it?) Papermint shrimp - 1 (After 6 months) I would prefer to buy the coral from fellow reefers. Please let me know if you would like to sell some frags to me. These are the questions I have now Do I need to run Carbon and/or GFO now? Is it ok to add all corals over a short period of time (one month)? Do I need to increase the intensity of my LED for SPS? Am I giving them enough light without causing an algae issue? Do I need to get an algae scrubber although I have a refugium? I really love green manderin gobies.I had one male manderin a few years back that I trained to eat pallets. One day he decided to end his life, after staying 1.5 years with us, by jumping out (I forgot to add the screen) So I want to give another try with one of these guys may be after a year. Anyone knows a place that sells pallet trained healthy green manderins? Your comments and feedbacks are much appreciated.

  5. I have about an 10 lb piece of live rock covered in GSP and would like to trade for a similar size of live rock and some corals or rock and anemone, let me know if are interested or have anything for trade. 7. Custom 310 Gallon Saltwater Mixed Reef Aquarium setup. Live and Running. Moving and can’t take the tank. Our loss is your gain! Professionally built custom tank and stand. All very high quality grade construction. Top quality components. This tank is stunning to look at and gets a lot of compliments. This tank is currently up and running now and was built brand new and setup 2 years ago. It is a fully functional Mixed reef with Live rock, Live sand, Live hard and soft coral, Live fish and Invertebrates. Nearly all tank mates have been living together parasite free for at least 2 years in this tank. Some a few years before that in different tanks. The tank is fairly automated so minimal maintenance is required. No Leaks or cracks in the tank. I have put a lot of hard work and energy into this tank to get it to where it is today. This truly is a work of art and a beautiful hobby. Looking to rehome all coral livestock first, then Fish and inverts. Then Tank breakdown can occur. I would prefer to sell it as a full package to the right buyer. I will not consider low ball offers, I’ve already cut everything by at least 50% and I can store this tank setup if needed. May consider some partial trade credit towards a small cube setup or biocube. Please Email me your information and exactly what you are interested in.
