  8. Hi Everyone, Let start with an introduction. My name is Nakul, and I live in Corvallis, Oregon. My wife and I got into this hobby (more like getting into it) after we had a roommate who had a freshwater tank, but he recently moved out. And now we are too used to having an aquarium at our place. We have decided to start with a salt water aquarium (but real slow as we are just students and can't throw in a lot of money all of a sudden). Besides this, in my day to day life, I like to play soccer, video games, photography, and traveling. I am a mechanical engineering student, and my wife just graduated with a degree in Animal Science, and is thinking about going to Veterinary School. I guess this is where I will end the introduction. It's a pleasure being a part of this community. Thank you, Nakul
  9. I have approximately 25 lbs of live rock for sale, one of the rocks has a large green leather on it. $2.00 / lb. Some is clean, some has some hair algae on it, I've had it all in a bucket with no light and plenty of circulation for a few weeks, except for the rock with the leather, it has been under a light. I'll be in Portland tomorrow mid morning-early afternoon and can meet you if it's not too much out of my way. PM me if you are interested

  11. So here I am, the new guy to the sweet world of coral! I'm rocking a IT-2040 LED system on top of my 40B, slowly bringing it up. Right now, it is running at 35% max for 4.5 hours of the day. I have 2 frags that are at the bottom of the tank as to acclimate them to the LEDs. I have a few questions and would love all the info you have to throw at me! 1. Am I really taking my DeWalt drill to a piece of live rock from my tank? If so, do I pull out the coral to see the size of drill bit I need for the plug? 2. This one may get confusing; once the frag is attached to the rock, do I slowly move the rock up in my tank to the right level, or do I "putty" the frag on different rocks until it get to the level, then drill the rock and place the frag? Did that make sense? Essentially, how do I place the frag at the right level in my tank according to lighting requirements? 3. Lastly, how do I know when I found the "sweet number" for the LEDs to stay at for the max? Do I wait until my frags are placed and every week raise the % by a few until my coral looks pissed, then take them back down just a few? Thanks for all the help everyone!
  12. Custom 310 Gallon Saltwater Mixed Reef Aquarium setup. Live and Running. Moving and can’t take the tank. Our loss is your gain! Professionally built custom tank and stand. All very high quality grade construction. Top quality components. This tank is stunning to look at and gets a lot of compliments. This tank is currently up and running now and was built brand new and setup 2 years ago. It is a fully functional Mixed reef with Live rock, Live sand, Live hard and soft coral, Live fish and Invertebrates. Nearly all tank mates have been living together parasite free for at least 2 years in this tank. Some a few years before that in different tanks. The tank is fairly automated so minimal maintenance is required. No Leaks or cracks in the tank. I have put a lot of hard work and energy into this tank to get it to where it is today. This truly is a work of art and a beautiful hobby. Looking to rehome all coral livestock first, then Fish and inverts. Then Tank breakdown can occur. I would prefer to sell it as a full package to the right buyer. I will not consider low ball offers, I’ve already cut everything by at least 50% and I can store this tank setup if needed. May consider some partial trade credit towards a small cube setup or biocube. Please Email me your information and exactly what you are interested in. It is available for viewing to Interested buyers. Thank you. The AquaMaxx BioMaxx BioPellet Reactor is a finely-tuned fluidized filter designed to help hobbyists remove nitrates and phosphates from reef aquarium systems. Adding a bio pellets reactor to your reef aquarium filtration system will improve the water quality for fish and other marine life.
