  1. Hello everyone, Here is v2.0 of my corals sale. As the subject line reads, I am getting out of the hobby and all my live stock is for sale. Thanks to all of you who already bought some of the corals. I am glad they are going to good homes. I am uploading a new PDF which contains all the photos and prices for what is still available. Hopefully you will see some that you like. Some of you have asked about the fish, they are now available for sale as the rock structure is being disassembled making it easier when trying to fish them out, so I don't cause too much stress on them. The prices for the fish are on the last few slides of the PDF document. Let me know of any questions you may have. Cheers! Corals for Sale v.2.0.pdf
  2. Selling off my used SCA starfire 66 Gallon reef tank setup. This tank is used, it has some scratches on the inside of the tank and the outside but the tank is very solid and sound. The stand is one that I built, it was build extra long and has room under it for a large sump and an equipment/electrical area on the end of it. It is not in perfect condition and could use a touch up on paint but it is not damage or broken. The bottom of the tank has a starboard attached to it. the background of the tank is black, the overflow box is a newer acrylic with a cover. Plumbing is all included for sump with valves. The measurements on the tank/stand are: Tank: 32 Long x 24 Wide x 20 Tall Stand: 50 1/2 Long x 30 1/4 Wide x 36 1/2 Tall. SOLD This is for LOCAL Pickup ONLY!
  3. Hey guys, haven't posted a tank thread before but figured I'd put this one up. Anyway, I just moved to a bigger place that would allow me to have a larger tank so I just got everything moved over last week. The tank before this was a standard 29 that I just basically moved everything right over to the new one. Equipment: - 20ish gallon DIY acrylic sump - simplicity dc320 skimmer - simplicity dc1600 return - 2x jebao rw-8 wavemakers - lighting is a DIY led fixture that I middle the new orphec v4 after but added a couple color spectrums too. - diy ITC-1000 temp. Controller - diy ATO -probably missing something... Livestock: Zoas: king midas, salted agave, CARs, blueberry fields, utter chaos, radioactive dragon eyes, sakura sunrise, bam bams, rastas, scrambled eggs, BBBs, everlasting gobstoppers, pink diamonds, Darth mauls, hallucinations, rainbow incinerators, space queens, twizzlers, granny apple Smith's, leprechauns, GB yellow hornets, and many more unnamed... Sps: $500 efflo, green slimer, Oregon tort, BigR WD, ora red planet, Garf bonsai, tricolor undata, orange setosa, ORA Red Planet, many more.. Fish: 2x standard clowns, purple tang, Potters Angelfish, green clown goby Various cleanup crews Anyway, lots more, just got tired of listing haha
  4. Coming soon to Albany Oregon.... another Pico reef jar. This one's pretty small at about .87 gallons total without any substrate or rock! Gunna try a new idea of having the top seal tight at the top so I can put a pump somewhere else in a sump of sorts and have it push water through the system, instead of an overflow. Lighting will be from a diy light that I built which consists of 8 spectrums including 415n, 430n, 440n, 470n, 500n, 650n, 5k white, and 20k white. The livestock for this one will be high end "designer" zoas and palythoa and maybe a really nice sps centerpiece. The for sure livestock so far will be: - hallucination paly - utter chaos paly - rainbow incinerator zoa - Darth maul zoa - pink diamond zoa - and more.. I'll be up for suggestions if anyone has a nice zoa or paly to add.
  5. So I'm planning on using a bluefish mini WiFi controller with the mean well ldd-h drivers for my 180 build. The highest amperage driver they have is a 1500mA one. And I'd need more like 4500mA for the Royal blue channel alone. So my main question is, can you run more than one ldd-h driver off of one pwm channel signal so I can get a total of 4500mA, the outputs of the drivers won't be connected in anyway. I tried to draw a basic of what I want to do.
  6. So I've never bought lighting before, I've always just made it myself but I'd like to try something different. Id like to stay with all led, maybe with some added t5 if someone convinces me lol. I wouldn't need a ton of features, just timing and adjustment of color and intensity. Also more budget friendly but not cheap, if that makes sense at all. I would be having both sps and clams at the bottom of the tank as well. The tanks dimensions are 6'x24.5"x24. Any input would be super helpful plus if anyone has any lighting for sale, I'd be interested in that as Well. Thanks!
  7. I have a 40B set up for sale, comes with tank, black wood stand, ASM mini G protein skimmer, a sunsun powerhead and a return pump (not sure make or anything). The tank was drilled and has bulkheads on it just needs piping - $100 29 Gallon bio cube with black stand, HQI light, glass top, protein skimmer, some extra replacement filters and small hydor kralia pump - $300 Unknown brand protein skimmer used on my 180 gallon reef tank - $50 If your interested in something let me know may come down on price a little hit me up with any offers worst I can say is no.
  8. So this evening my daughter decided to play with my cleaner shrimp and dosed the tank with a cup of medium pulp orange juice its a 50 gal mixed reef no sps got pretty cloudy so i turned off skimmer threw a clean canister on it and running some carbon, i know you can dose vitamin c but is this going to have any effects on the system? Ps.. Torches and frogspawn do not like orange juice lol
  9. I need a Full Spec LED light fixture and want to get something programmable or 2 channel day/night. I'm looking for an OR T247 or a 20" Current Orbit If you have either, or something comparable please let me know what you got! thanks

  12. This is great article on reefscaping I wanted to share. https://www.fish-etc.com/aquascaping-main/on-the-rocks-how-to-build-a-saltwater-reefscape
  13. Hello pnwmas! My name is Allen, I have Biocube that I would love to share to the community. I've had the tank up and running for little over 5 years. The tank started out as a LPS and softy tank but that changed as my understanding grew. The last 2 years I have switch the tank to a more mix reef, adding SPS while keeping some LPS and softies to keep the tank diverse. This transition has been challenging at best but as I fine-tuned my knowledge that I have acquired though the tanks life, my goals quickly changed as to keep a stable and successful long term mixed reef tank that I could be proud of. Hope you enjoy it! Here are some pics. .
  14. Hello All, I haven't posted on this forum yet, but have been in the fish hobby for quite some time. I have been noticing something that has really concerned me and it just seems to be getting worse. I live in the greater Seattle area and have noticed that we have been continually losing our quality fish stores over the last 10 to 15 years. Especially saltwater stores. We don't even have a reef club or reef swap to anymore (the Tri Cities even have one!!). With Red C Aquarium store closing down. We now have Dennys Pet World, The Fish Store, Barrier Reef Aquariums and a few others that make up the available retail stores we can visit between Everett and Tacoma. Sure I missed a few of the smaller shops or mixed pet shops but you get my point. We really have a limited selection. When we look at meet ups or frag swaps, this is even more limited with what is available. I remember there used to be a much larger selection of events that were held yearly for aquarium hobbyists. But it seems, with time, they keep dropping off. Aside from online retailers what do you think the cause of this is? You look around the US and every region has big yearly expos that bring national attention to their regions for fish and reef hobbyists. Then you look at the Pacific Northwest and it is a black hole. We need to work together to bring this back! I know we can be introverted people who don't like to always go outside of our house. But this is something that I dearly miss and believe many of you do as well. So I propose we try to work on getting ourselves back to what used to be. We need to stat supporting our local fish stores. Regardless if their prices are a bit more expensive. Soon enough, we will reach a day where you have an emergency and are unable to find a store anywhere that can assist you quickly. Instead, you have to wait two days for your order to show up, which in many cases, will be too late. I'm not trying to make this a personal rant, but something to wake us up to take notice of this issue and work on finding a solution. I, like many others absolutely love this hobby. As well as the people it attracts. I want to see our area known for having a great environment for aquarium hobbyists so we can bring in better stores and maybe, just maybe host an actual national expo here! That being said, what do you all think we can do to bring this back? Do you agree with my thoughts on our dying culture here? And if so, help me to get this back on track! It will take a group to make this work so please help! Thank you! Mick

  17. Hello everyone, Its been three month since I start my aquarium and it finished the cycle within two months. Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrite are undetectable. I'm ready to add some corals now. Aquarium parameters Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrite Untraceble to the test kit Temperature - 77 F (+/- 0.3 F) Specific gravity 1.026 What is in my system now Bought BRS Water saver plus RO/DI unit with the RO reserver tank/faucet (I could justify this to my wife DI unit is seperate- Who can resist clean water ) I have 40 lbs of CaribSea Speacial grade live sand ( it created 1" sandbed) and Dry rock from BRS. 50g Cube 8g sump 20g refugium with 20 lb of live sand (Looking for Macro Algae that won't go sexual) 10g RO/DI reservoir gravity fed with a fixed float valve Oceanreview T247 LED 10" above water surface running blue at 100% (0700 - 2200) and daylight at 50% (1200 - 1900) Skimz mini 143 skimmer Eheim heater I do 20% water changes every week BRS media rector (two chambers) Have two happy fat clowns that I bought in 2013 and the aquarium that hosted them have thousands of Ampe/cope pods which I will carefully transfer to the new sump Plannig to add the followings soon 2 MP10's (will this be over kill? and does any one have MP10 that need to get rid of so I can get them cheap) Calcium reactor: Planning to buy AquaMaxx S-NANO Calcium Reactor ( any other suggestions are welcome) Aquarium monitor and control system (Reefkeeper or APEX? How about Seneye?) Since this is a small tank I'm planning only to keep SPS, LPS (may be 2-3) and few Zoas. Following are what in my mind. They are pictures I got from internet and do not know the names of most of them (Can someone tell me the name of these corals). Obviously I won't be able to host all the SPS in my tank. Following are the cleanup crew I'm planning to order. Nassarius snails - 2 Blackfoot Trochus snail - 1 (After 6 months or if I have algae) Blueleg Hermit - 1 Regleg hermit - 1 Cerith snails - 4 Emerald crab - 1 (Tiny one after 1 year or if I have hair algae) Sand shifting goby - 1 (After 1 year. Can I add this guy since my sand grain size is large. Will the sand hurt it?) Papermint shrimp - 1 (After 6 months) I would prefer to buy the coral from fellow reefers. Please let me know if you would like to sell some frags to me. These are the questions I have now Do I need to run Carbon and/or GFO now? Is it ok to add all corals over a short period of time (one month)? Do I need to increase the intensity of my LED for SPS? Am I giving them enough light without causing an algae issue? Do I need to get an algae scrubber although I have a refugium? I really love green manderin gobies.I had one male manderin a few years back that I trained to eat pallets. One day he decided to end his life, after staying 1.5 years with us, by jumping out (I forgot to add the screen) So I want to give another try with one of these guys may be after a year. Anyone knows a place that sells pallet trained healthy green manderins? Your comments and feedbacks are much appreciated.
  18. Hi Everyone, Let start with an introduction. My name is Nakul, and I live in Corvallis, Oregon. My wife and I got into this hobby (more like getting into it) after we had a roommate who had a freshwater tank, but he recently moved out. And now we are too used to having an aquarium at our place. We have decided to start with a salt water aquarium (but real slow as we are just students and can't throw in a lot of money all of a sudden). Besides this, in my day to day life, I like to play soccer, video games, photography, and traveling. I am a mechanical engineering student, and my wife just graduated with a degree in Animal Science, and is thinking about going to Veterinary School. I guess this is where I will end the introduction. It's a pleasure being a part of this community. Thank you, Nakul
  19. Dual 400 Watt Metal Halide Ballast w/cords Pictures: http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pet/5456836299.html Ballast is in good used condition with a few paint chips/scratches. It does power on. Makes a slight humming/buzzing sound when on. I believe this is normal for most MH Ballasts. It has a date of Nov. 05 on back label. I assume this is the manufacture date. I bought this new but can't recall the date of purchase. It has been kept in dry storage for several years. Ballast was used in aquarium application. The cords are in ok shape - could use a little cleaning on the prong plugs. There is two (2) 400 watt XM bulbs. Not sure the age of the bulbs. Even though the bulbs light up, they probably should be replaced to get true spectrum and intensity. Manufacture: Sunlight Supply Inc. Vancouver, WA USA BW 2 Dual MH-400 Plus Start 120V 8A 800Watt 60Hz This ballast operates 2 metal halide mogul base lamps (400watt type M 135) $45.00 OBO (cash only) Sold As Is. No returns or trades. 21. Hey everyone, I am new to the group and its my first time getting salty! I purchased a 29 gallon Biocube off of craigslist. It had everything I needed to get started but it was a little neglected. When i got it the Nitrates were off the chart. Since then I have done three 50% water changes and i have it down to 90.. I am about to do my 4th 50% water change.. I have a mocha clown, rose bubble anemone, and an emerald crab. They all seem to be doing very well, the anemone especially! The stem is longer and the bubbles are longer and fuller. I am new to the reef and salt water thing so i'm trying to keep it simple and as inexpensive as possible! If you have any tips for getting nitrates down faster I would love to hear them, also any tips for a reef beginner would be great! Each time i go to World of Wet Pets for my water I get more excited to get some cool corals and fish but I have to get the tank stable first. Thanks guys!
