  1. For a skimmer the aquatic life 115 is a very popular little workhorse (you may need to do a simple mod to make it silent), I've got one on my 35g tank and it works really well. I second the 40b tank upgrade, you've got a very cool idea going but not for a 20g
  2. Not sure what type I have or how many (population is still growing) but your welcome to grab some
  3. I'm attempting it here in tacoma but im not sure that the population in my jug is large enough right now (been going for about a week)
  4. I'll pay $100 but I need you to ship it to Nigeria
  5. I've got some sand anemones, they are very similar to rock nems accept they spit out one baby at a time (every few months) and they're way stickier all over. If left unchecked for too long they can take over a tank (I have to go in and get rid of about 9 a year).
  6. Those my friend are red zoas, yellow zoas, and green zoas. Your welcome
  7. I can't tell you what it is but it isn't any species of flower nem that I'm familiar with. The tentacles look right but it shouldn't have tentacles in the center
  8. Not sure if I'm understanding this correctly but the rock you have is dry, not live so you can't use it to seed other rock. Also, while cleaning it in acid or bleach and drying it in the sun is a great idea, those vermited snails and other pests are dead and won't be introduced into you tank.
  9. I should have known everyone on here would be great about this kind of thing! If I would have posted this on R2R everybody would have been like "we're supposed to clean the skimmer body!?!?!?"
  10. Ya I've seen those, very cool! Does the gunk get pushed up into the cup or does it fall down into the skimmer body?
  11. Wow look at those little nems, very cool
  12. And thanks for the tip on not leaving it in the tank burningbaal, makes perfect sense that algae and stuff would weigh it down
  13. Ok ok im convinced. I tried it on both of my tanks and it seems spot on. I'll start using this instead of my refractometers, at least until I break it (is there anything inside of it that'll nuke my tank when I break it?). I wonder what other old equipment I've tossed that is actually better than my new school stuff.
  14. i was just going through some old boxes of fish tank equipment and throwing away lots of little odds and ends and i came across this floating hydrometer. Are these any good? I can remember using it a few times but its been a loooooong time. Maybe i can put it in the sump permanently? Or the trash can works too, either way.
  15. I have a very strict quarantine procedure. All of my new fish are kept separate in their own bag from the time I pick them up at the lfs up until when I get home and drop them into my display tank. I do this every time, no shortcuts here! As a virus precaution I did take its temp when I got it, it was 78 degrees and hasn't changed
  16. Im pretty excited about this one since its something "new" that I've never come across before. We spent the weekend at beacon rock state park and detoured through portland on the way home and picked up a China wrasse (not sure if im supposed to be buying from china right now 😉) and a filter feeding cucumber at cfc. The wrasse is awesome, i told the kids its a baby shark.
  17. These are what you want. We use them at work to carry heavy windows around. I've moved a few tanks with them as well. Ive seen them at construction supply stores and on eBay. Don't cheap out on suction cups, its not fun when they let go (ask me how i know....)
  18. Good luck with the fight! I'm a boxing guy myself but love the old ufc stuff
  19. Oh, and im on my way to the portland area right now, who wants to trade some corals ☠️
  20. Im gonna pass on this conversation, its too painful
  21. Ok here we go, i don't qt at all. I have/had in my tank ich, vermited snails, aiptasia, hydroids, asterinas, uhhh what else? Lots more I'm sure. I believe a truly established healthy system should be able to handle these things with no problems. I do sell corals from time to time and don't tell people about pests (not that I would make any attempt to hide them either). I wouldnt sell anything that i noticed a pest on though. The fact is that if your concerned about these pests then your gonna dip or qt the things you buy from me. If you don't and you get a pest then that is your fault. My tank is close to 10 years old now and packed with live rock and pests just arent able to take hold. I believe its the new tanks with dry rock that get overrun with pests. Well thats my opinion anyways, feel free to rip me apart if you'd like!
