What kind do you use/recommend? I've never used these higher end Powerheads before but I am getting sick of replacing koralias every couple of years.

Looks nice and shiny in the 24v socket. But the 12v socket does appear to have some light corrosion. I'm not using the 12v socket currently, is that for a battery back up or something? Should I open the controller up and check things out? It looks like it could just pop open?

Hey guys, my koralia pump started leaking voltage the other day so I need to replace it. I found this oooolllldddd mp40w in a box and thought I'd give it a try so I ordered a new power supply (which doesn't seem to plug in all the way) for it and plugged it in and nothing. Anybody have any experience with fixing these up? I thought maybe a new controller was in order but I can't seem to locate one.

I always use a water bottle with the top cut off and inverted. Caught many fish this way. For bigger fish I use a wide mouth apple juice bottle and cut the opening bigger if needed

That's really high but I have seen some beautiful tanks with similar numbers. Stability is key. Oh ya and not buying acros, duh!

I wouldn't be using phosgaurd without testing for phosphates. Nothing bleaches sps faster than lowering Po4 too fast... And fwiw I never use more than maybe 75% of the recommended dose of phosgaurd/gfo/ect Also since your not testing yet you could have bottomed out your Po4 which will also hurt sps and zoas

Ya let's see some parameters. How long has the tank been running? Live rock or dry? What kind of lighting? Any other corals or nems in the tank? How are they doing? Fwiw bubble tip nems not having the bubbles is not a problem. Some just don't bubble up. Some have bubbles and then stop having bubbles. The reasoning is not understood yet but it doesn't mean they are unhealthy

Inkbirds get mixed reviews but mine has been going strong for 3 or 4 yrs now. I have it controlling a heater and a fan -
You know they say the devil is red with big horns, I say he might be a cute little starfish. Dip it in holy water then burn it!

B- hey I'll take it! To be honest I read a really good article a while back on this subject but I couldn't find it now so I just did a Google search and linked that one (which i only skimmed through quickly)

You are correct, here I'll rephrase my original post. And BTW.. house plants give off co2 at night.... so go write your highschool biology teacher an apology letter. Evapotransporation during the day -co2 Respiration at night + co2 Fwiw the houseplant theory seems like a good idea but unless your doing wall to wall plants all over the house they will not have a noticeable effect. https://www.gardenmyths.com/houseplants-increase-oxygen-levels/ There, is that better professor?

Time to get creative! Some type of plastic kitchen strainer will work fine. Or you can drill holes in some Tupperware

Cleaner wrasse, cleaners? Or fish nibblers?

Thanks for the link! Very interesting stuff. I feel like research like this for reef fish is rare so it really was a great read -
Are you keeping these and growing them out? Or???

How do you know their gender? Fwiw I've had one for ~7 yrs and a second one for ~3 yrs (and a third for a few months) and I've never witnessed a spawning event.

Hey nice tanks! What part of Tacoma? I'm over here by the new casino (east side)

What kinda of nutrient levels are you running with? Water change schedule? Doesn't look like your skimmer is doing much either. I don't imagine your testing too much with mostly a fish only but chaeto does need some nutrients to grow

Hey Bryce, good to have one more Washingtonian on here! Nice tank! I'm a sucker for a custom stand, got any pictures of it?
