  1. I've been on a shopping spree lately. After Holly's sale last weekend my small frag rack is full, and today I picked up a cool chalice and a trachyphyllia from @CuttleFishandCoral.
  2. 1. On the Member Map screen, click the green "Add Location" button: 2. Enter your location. You can be as precise or as vague as you like. For example, you can just enter Portland, OR, or you can enter your full street address. Some people may choose not to list their actual address for privacy reasons, and that's perfectly fine. NOTE: We've found that you need to spell out Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast for street names. It will not recognize "NE Sandy", for example. 3. Once you have enough of a location entered, it will show you a list of matching locations. Click the one that most closely matches, then click Save:
  3. Yeah, the UPS only needs to keep things running for 30 seconds until the generator automatically takes over. 😎

    Mandarins

I recently added a pair of Mandarins to my tank. They are such beautiful fish and a lot of fun to watch. They stayed hidden quite a bit for several days, but now they're out and hunting all the time.
  5. That's very generous of you! Sure, that would be great.
  6. There's no requirement to bring anything...it's completely optional....but any typical side dish would be welcome and if you have any particular beverage you might want. I'll be grilling chicken, burgers, and bratwurst, along with potato salad and fruit salad. I guess if people post here what they might bring, it will help to prevent duplicates.
  7. Welcome back! There are several great shops in the area. Here are my favorites, but I'm sure others will chime in with more choices. Cuttlefish & Corals 6363, Southwest Capitol Highway Portland, OR 97239 Upscales 19295 SW Martinazzi Ave Tualatin, OR 97062 Seahorse Aquarium and Supply 106 NE Russet St Portland, OR 97211 United States All Things Aquarium 30789, SW Boones Ferry Road Wilsonville, OR 97070 An in Vancouver you have a brand new shop that just opened a few weeks ago: The ReefBox 12308 NE 56th St g-1305 Vancouver, WA 98682
  8. Since I replaced the UPS with the same model, I'm keeping the old battery as a spare. Not sure how long it will last on a shelf, but it was only used for less than a year so I'm hoping it will be useful if needed.
  9. I replaced my UPS, so just for fun I disassembled my failed UPS to see if I could spot the damage from saltwater. Surprisingly everything looks fine. I expected some corrosion or a burned component, but there’s nothing obvious.
  10. It's so cool to see their development progress! Thanks for keeping us posted.
  11. No need, your comment is good enough. Thanks!
  12. Actually, I was surprised to see R2R is only 29x larger than us based on registered members: R2R = 109,929 members PNWMAS = 3,735 members No idea what percentage of those are dormant accounts.
  13. R2R just redesigned their entire site last month and it caused all sorts of problems for several weeks (including the delay of one of my Apex tutorials 😞). Theirs is built on https://xenforo.com, so a completely different platform than PNWMAS.
  14. I know a lot of you use Tapatalk here and probably for other forums too. R2R just announced removing Tapatalk support. See this post for details: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-reef2reef-tapatalk-app-is-going-to-be-disabled-soon.639203/
  15. Update: Neptune confirmed the problem and recommends installing the Apex Classic firmware update. Here is Neptune's official response: --------- We are receiving reports from our Apex Classic customers that they have been recently experiencing random reboots of their systems. This is only affecting customers using our Apex Classic and not customer who use the Apex and ApexEL. Our engineers have been and will continue to actively investigate this matter with the utmost priority to determine why this might be occurring. At this time we do know that customers who have updated to the latest release of Apex Classic firmware, 4.53_4D19, have observed that their Apex Classic system has stopped rebooting. The firmware can be found at: https://www.neptunesystems.com/firmware Please read the instructions included on that page to update your firmware. It is important to highlight that for a firmware update to occur successfully it is very important that your Apex AND the computer you are updating from be wired to your network. Do NOT update over wireless. Updating over wireless from either your computer or the Apex could make your system unavailable for use. We apologize for the inconvenience, appreciate your understanding, and please reach our to our support team if you need any additional assistance. To contact our support team, please fill out the contact page here: https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/ Thank you! Neptune Systems
  16. I will definitely want to look this over in person before my next build. I have ambitious plans for next year, with something like this in mind!
  17. Wow. I’ll remember this in case it comes up in pub trivia or on Jeopardy.
  18. I think @Gil&Fin Holly is single-handedly responsible for coral overcrowding in reef tanks all around the Pacific NorthWest.
  19. I’ve run out of room on my frag rack thanks to Holly! As always, a great selection and elbow-to-elbow fun times. 😊
  20. I'll take one or both! Since the next meeting is at my house, I'll even let you decide where in my tank your frag would look best. 😃
  21. If any of you own a Neptune Apex Classic, be aware there have been many reports of unexpected reboots over the past few weeks. Neptune has been silent on this problem, but in the Neptune Community Forums it has become apparent that the the problem is resolved by installing the latest Apex Classic firmware update, version 4.53_4D19, available on Neptune's web site: https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/sw-updates/ If you have been experiencing this reboot problem, I highly recommend updating your device with the new firmware. If you have NOT had any problems, then just leave it alone and don't make any changes.
  22. Someday I'm sure I'll regret not having kids...
  23. This is the kind of lawn game I'd love...If anyone has one of these, PLEASE bring it over: We could stuff @albertareef inside and roll him around. 🤣
  24. I have not started dosing anything other than calcium and alkalinity, and target feeding my corals a couple times per week.. I've thought about dosing other elements, but my corals seem happy so I'm hesitant to do anything new. I also think my auto daily water changes with Red Sea Coral Pro is probably giving the corals some of the other elements they need.
