You are going to play good coin to get a sump built by either of those folks. Most builders (both of us) don't mess with different colored plastics. I don't have any in the shop and I don't recall seeing any at James's place either but I have only been there twice. Most people want this super pimp custom sump with all these strange pathways and configurations but the reality is that those are REALLY difficult to construct. Acrylic is not like wood, bubble free seams take an amazing amount of precision. there is a builder in seattle as well.

True enough. nor should energy efficiency be a primary consideration when choosing a coral light... Heat your tank with lights or heat it with heaters. Either way, your going to pay.

Any updates? One thing i do every y months is calibrtae my ph probes. They also dont last long. About 18 months is pretty good. After that they start drifting. Typically they only drift in a single direction though so that wouldn't cause fluctuations. In these situations it comes down to what you trust. Because you have a fluctuating calicum to alk ratio and that is pretty much impossible with a CalRX, i am going to put your testing skills near the bottom of rhe list. The problem HAS to be one of the following: 1. Unprecise testing 2. Fluctuating effluent rate. 3. Fluctuating effluent concentration. 4. Rapidly changing ALK consumption. I say investigate 1 and 2.

That is a really low price for a kamoer but with ebay you are pretty protected. You have to know that many of these production facilities in china sell "grey market" copies..meaning they sell the product they are building out the back door so to speak. I don't have (nor do i want) the wifi edition of the kamoer but the og one has been great.

I tried for a week to find the sweet spot with bubbles and pressure (using the hella expensive electric co2 doser). Finally just set the co2 from 6.7-6.8 on the apex and let it ride.

We can help, but indeed we need to know the specifics. Properly set up, your calrx should be totally accurate and alk and cal will stay constant. Don't worry about mag.do you have mag chips in your reactor?

Likely a worn out ballast that is failing to strike the bulbs on.

The tubing is EXPENSIVE. I once was researching and found a 50 foot roll and it was like $250 or something. Plus the length has to be just right.

My advice. Take $900, burn it, then delete your account here. LOL. Or.. go big.. at least 120 gallon.

Lube the living shiet out of tubing and rollers with silicone grease. Should quiet it down and prolong tubing life.

I would be absolutely SHOCKED if your ph is 8.7 naturally. Almost to the point of saying no way. I live next to the forest with minimal traffic so my co2 levels in the air are lower than most. Inner city PDX was like 440 ppm. I am around 330 now. Fresh air will likely cure any ph issues.

So I finally cleaned up my shop and figured it was time to fill it with acrylic shavings. I am building a tank for a friend, and maybe a tank for myself. I just got a shipment of fresh welding chemicals so I thought I would see if anyone is looking for a tank. From simple frag tanks to monster tanks. Although, I REALLY don't want to work with 1" acrylic again so nothing over 24" high. I will beat any retail price on an acrylic tank and my prices also include the PROPER acrylic thickness which means no warping or bulging. My tanks typically deflect LESS than glass. Not to get into a glass-vs- acrylic debate but acrylic is superior to glass IMO. - 10X stronger than glass - Your tank is chemically welded together, not held together with silicone that degrades over time 30 year old acrylic tank? not a problem. - Clearer than glass - LIGHTER than glass by a long shot. - Scratches can be REMOVED.. yes, even with water in the aquarium. Try fixing scratched glass. - if you think acrylic degrades with UV then you need to google a little, cast acrylic is NOT affected by UV. - Cleaning acrylic is much easier these days with the advent of polypropylene scrubbers (magic eraser) and expanded plastic mesh scrubbies.
