  1. Well, yeah. I am sitting around 750 gallons total so I could put a l9t of h2o2 in the tank with absolutely no worry. People have been dosing h2o2 for awhile in marine tanks, at reasonable levels it doesnt hurt anything.

What those levels are...I dunno, because honestly, I am below them and that is all I need to know :)

  2. I ALWAYS remove the plugs.  I have a saw so I freshly cut and remount them.  This process also includes an inspection with a lighted 10x lens to look for bugs.

Here is what works for me for mounting... put a glob of super glue on your finger and smear it hard onto the rock where you are going to mount the frag.  Then put a big glob of glue on the frag and then place it onto the fresh glue on the rock.  There are variations on this that use epoxy but you need SG to get it to stick to the rock.

  3. I have pink and red in spades.  I have an anacrapora but it is growing slowly at the moment in the DT.   The BC backdraft is pretty dope as well.  I am going to TRY and take photos this weekend.  emphasis on try.

Ok so piedmont was way cheaper, literally half the price from tap. $542 for a full 4’x8’  1” thick sheet. Cool guys thanks.

I don't know what you are going to use that for but at that price, you have extruded acrylic which is NOT, i repeat NOT suitable for aquariums.  You need cast acrylic for aquarium construction.  A sheet of 1" cast is going to be about $900 on a good day. (the good days ended in 2020 by the way).

  5. That is sooooo ridiculous!!   The first floor, with the exposed basement, is child's play.   I literally replumbed my entire 1 story rental house in a single day. The second floor is tricker but you can pull pex pretty easily.

If you want to pay me 5k to patch drywall you just let me know when and I will show up.

  6. Unless you already have it, I would skip the Jebao UV. Or at least know that there have been several production runs where the plastic was degrading.  I have a MONSTER DCP that I am using as an external pump on my closed loop setup.  Have been very very very very happy with it.  5,000 GPH and completely silent for $220?  yes please!

Also, when calculating flow remember that in a closed loop system there is absolutely no flow reduction due to head loss.

  7. After dosing for a couple of years and switching to a CalRX my experience has been that nothing is easier to track, more stable, and error proof than a CalRx.

800 gallon system, one huge reactor, little to no water changes.  Mostly just 20% every couple of months,

  8. A couple of things to know.  If you using flake food, it has a lot of phos in it.  As does store bought frozen fish (most).  While food will certainly add nitrates, nitrate is primarily the by product of ammonia which comes from the gills of fish. I know, I know everyone thinks that ammonia comes from fish poop and pee but it doesn't. Feel free to google it.  Saltwater fish RARELY "pee", their environment is saltier than they are and they have processes to retain water, they don't actively expel it.

Phosphorous is typically the limiting factor in algae growth.  If you have lots of algae growth, then your phos is high.  Yeah, the need nitrogen, but they need phos more.  This is a dramatic oversimplification but it serves the purpose of letting you get a feel for tank conditions based on observations.

Having high phos with zero nitrates would be a VERY weird occurrence. If a hanna said your No3 was 100 then I would be willing to bet that you do not have zero nitrates.  Loosing nitrate through biological activity > conversion of nitrogen gas > and outgassing is  a slow process.

I would suggest double checking your test results or take it to a LFS.  At the very least, give us some info on your tank. Gallons, fish, etc etc.  Not to dig on you, but if you let your salinity drop to 1.022, you need to apply a little more effort a be more cautious.  The only thing that will lower your salinity is improper mixing of fresh sea water (or a top off error).  Swinging your salinity does VERY BAD THINGS to the concentrations of important ions.  cal, alk, mag, well, everything actually (except waste numbers).

    Hope this is helpful.

  9. It is REALLY handle to cut an angle on the pipe and put some silicone grease on the pipe before inserting it into the uniseal.  I have actually installed about 200 different uniseals, they are AWESOME.  You want to experience pain?  Try inserting a 4" pipe into a uniseal!  LOL

  10. A couple things.  With a tank like that you are not going to need a lot of turnover or flow through the sump so you could get away with a small overflow.  While I like external overflows with a small internal box.. like the "ghost" overflow, You might consider just using one or two of the H2Overflows instead.  They only require a simple bulkhead and pipe.  They can be a little nosier, but with two of them and a larger bulkhead.. say 1", they should be fairly quiet.  They are kind of the best of both worlds really.  https://www.customaquariums.com/information/h2overflow/

My vote, as always, is for acrylic.  They are the clearest tanks you can get and scratches are easily removed both inside and outside the tank. You scratch glass, its over.

  11. I didn't know 😞

honestly though, that thing is sooooo over priced it's pretty comical.  I tell you what though, that Amazon light I banging!!  It was this solid hay roll slowly turning last night, today, too big too turn.
