  1. Emotional binge eating has been a serious problem for my wife and I. We have both seesawed up and down post-army due to kids/medications/mental health. Your accomplishments and story are inspiring. Sincerely, what you two have done is flat out incredible. Being recently diagnosed as prediabetic myself was a serious wake up call. Running and dietary changes have helped immensely. Thank you for the post Kim, I needed some motivation to get out in the cold and get some exercise.
  2. Interesting idea. How will you keep the water temps down to acceptable levels? What are you planning on keeping in there?
  3. Very nice Spectra! Are you planning on adding more rock? I love the open look. Plenty of room for your awesome LPS selection.
  4. That is indeed nightmare inducing. Sorry to hear about your troubles Sean. Between the temp swing and the busted seam I would be bummed. I'm glad to hear that nothing died though. Have you introduced coral yet?
  5. Here's a relevant BRS video I watched recently regarding the matter. He talks both about the airline into the skimmer (which he says needs to be from outside) and a CO2 scrubber. https://youtu.be/t69huBU8xyM?t=134
  6. Mag gets exponentially harder to raise the higher it is. It can take quite a but. I try to keep mine at 1440.
  7. I just installed this one and it's working great. It's hooked to a BRS peristaltic 1.1mL/minute pump. First option was the one I bought. http://www.autotopoff.com/Double/index.html
  8. It was a fun meeting and we were glad to be there. Thank you to everyone that put it on and thanks for the trades/frags!
  9. Lol this post made me chuckle pretty hard. I haven't been doing it as long as you guys but I've already seen some weird morphs and behavior. I keep telling myself I'm not a polyp guy but I just keep ending up with more. They definitely elicit the collector mentality and scratch that same kind of itch. It's been pretty fun watching your collection grow. I have to say, that Utter Chaos I got from you a while back has gotten me more enthused about polyps in general. The zoa so pretty it made me a believer!
  10. Yea I don't really get it. Post a front and side picture once a month. Whoever has the most growth at the end of four months wins.
  11. Bummer. Ah well, you could do a blackout period if you have any algae. Otherwise I hope you get the new light quickly!
  12. That is such a killer spot in your home for that tank. I love the room in the back and the hole in the wall. Definitely will be following along on this. Nice size cube too.
  13. If you have urchins, they can strip staggering amounts of coralline overnight. Sorry to hear about your problems, I hope you get it figured out.
  14. Considering the general pricing of reef tank equipment and livestock, why cut corners on something as inexpensive as the substrate? There's probably more than a few very valid reasons why you shouldn't do this (sand base material, color etc) but honestly what does a couple bags of live/dry reef sand cost? As much as a single coral or fish in a lot of cases. You tend to get what you pay for in this hobby and cutting corners isn't a great way to start in my opinion. Here's a great vendor to buy sand and rock from: http://www.reefrocks.net
  15. Oh my... that yellow rimmed monti cap on the far left is beautiful.
  16. Probably because they get so big. Super pretty fish though.
  17. Holy crap what is that 3rd to last one? *Drool* I want that in my life...
  18. What are peoples suggestions for keeping the bags warm while we party?
  19. Found a tiny little clump yesterday of bryopsis but it seems to be fading. It could be my constant removal of it but I seem to be finding less.
  20. edit: Grandis are spoken for. I'll have more in a few weeks if anyone is still interested. And a few Firework/Magician palythoa's: Camera wasn't cooperating on that one, here's a picture from zoanthids.com: http://www.zoanthids.com/product_info.php?products_id=304
