  1. Hey everyone, despite just setting up my 40 breeder not too long ago, I've gotta sell it. Just got a promotion that requires me to move to Boston, and I've decided to sell the tank rather than move it. 40b tank (not drilled) Homemade stand (4x4 frame, with a nice skin covering it). 20g sump can go with, although it's not running now Jebao rw8 250w heater Not sure how much rock there is, but call it 50+ pounds. It was previously dry rock, but the tank is almost done cycling. It may be done now but I haven't tested for 3 weeks since I've been waiting on info for the move. Either way, there was a definite ammonia spike, followed by the nitrite spike which both zero'd off. Also a 250w de icecap mh, pendant style. Needs a new bulb though. See pics below, asking 250 OBO, which will included all the above, plus a little extra salt, and a master test kit. I'd rather sell as a whole. I've gotta sell my house and pack everything, so I won't have the time to part everything out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. What are the dimensions of the 33? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Personally I think you're pretty stocked already. Clowns aren't exactly aggressive, but they also aren't that peaceful. But in a 20, depending what type they are... They definitely would be the bullies that's for sure. Don't add a six line. Had one in my 40 and they are super active. No way would one of those be comfortable with all those other fish in a 20. 4. Like blue said, remove the frags if at all possible. If you can get the coral off the rock cleanly, that'd prob be best, and just re mount it on a clean piece of rock. Don't pop them inside your tank though. That can cause it to spread. I've had emerald crabs that love it and I've had emeralds that won't touch it. And if the tank is too large they may never find it anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've thought about keeping the mh or going with t5. I've used both in the past and I've always had great success with both. But I also like to try new things, and I can't say no to some of the colors these leds are putting out! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks! Oh and the heater and everything will be in the sump eventually. Anyone have any suggestions on what kinda flow to shoot for through the sump? The single rw-8 in the tank is a decent amount of flow, but I definitely want more. Just not sure what kinda flow to put through a 20g sump on a 40 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well I was out of the hobby for a few years but now that I've got a house, time to get back in. I picked up a 40 breeder with 20g sump and a partially finished diy stand from Craigslist. As of now the sump is not running (need an overflow and return pump. So far I've got around 50 pounds of previously dry base rock, 30-40 pounds of sand, jebao rw-8 and an icecap 250w MH. Eventually will switch to led but I'm in no hurry as there's nothin growing yet! This is how I bought the setup... And then I finished the stand... And finally with the mh on it... 8. Wow it appears you're right. Bummer, they used to have some really nice retro setups. Looks like you can get similar stuff from aqua cave and I'm sure plenty of others, but the prices are a bit more than they used to be for retro kits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. No not all t5 are equal. I've just gotten back in the hobby after a couple years out, but last I saw, Home Depot won't have anything that will do much good in a reef tank (if that's your goal). I had great success with the ati retro kit from reef geek. Not sure if they still have it, but it came with instructions. But make sure whatever t5 you get has individual reflectors for each bulb. As for the bulbs themselves, I was partial to the ati brand. They had great color and growth for me. Home Depot won't have anything with much blue in it. You're prob lucky to find anything above 10k, let alone 12-14k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I didn't read through all the other replies, so someone may have already said, but for that stuff, cerith snails work great overall. Astreas are great for the glass and rock, but won't touch the sand. I personally love a mix of ceriths and astreas, with one or 2 turbos mixed in there depending on tank size. Also, nassarius are great to have for moving the sand around, but they aren't gonna touch diatoms, or algae in general for that matter. They'll mostly stick to leftovers and waste. I may be considering a group buy through reeftopia in the next few weeks though... I've used them a few times in az and they've always been great, but I haven't looked too much into it yet. 11. I just recently moved here from Phoenix myself, and although the group on this site is nowhere near the size of the group in Phoenix on RC, there's still quite a bit of stuff for sale here. Craigslist here is fairly good. And don't quote me, but I think petco is running their $1 per gallon deal right now, so that could be an inexpensive way to get started (someone correct me if I'm wrong). 12. Southeast Portland. Do you come up here ever?
  13. So here's the deal, I've got plenty of dry base rock, however, I need some actual live rock to get stuff going a little bit here. I've got a lot of leftover pieces of dry rock, some big some small, that I'm looking to trade for some live rock. I don't need much, just somethin to introduce some coralline at the very least, and somethin with pods would be great. Let me know!
  14. I've got a few MH setups for sale because I won't be using them. I'm not sure how to get the pics between text, so the pics will be in order from first to last. First is a 250w DE icecap, pendant style. Has an old bulb, so if you're planning to grow anything, it needs a new bulb. $75 OBO Second is an icecap 400w DE, also pendant style, also with an old bulb. $50 OBO Last, I've got a PFO 2x400w SE retro kit that I inherited. Ballast has on off switch. Comes with reflectors, bulbs, all cables and ready to plug in. Bulbs are 20k S.P.S brand of unknown age, although I just fired it up and they still have very nice color and don't appear to be too used. $75 OBO Again, all prices are OBO, I'm just trying to find a couple things to go into my new tank. If anyone would wanna trade, I'm open for stuff that would be useful for a 40g, although I just got it set up, so I'm not ready for any fish or corals yet. It appears my pics are too big to upload... I'm limited to an iPhone, can someone help with that?
