  1. I'm tearing down one of my planted tanks and figured that the Planted + would make a good refugium light for those that have tons of macro algae. This is the one with moonlights but not the new one with the remote. I've had it ~10 months thus far. asking $75, please message me here if interested. thanks!
  2. I am, and will eternally continue to be, so in love with this tank. That midas blenny is so cute it's illegal
  3. added another yuma... the two yumas that survived the previous tank disaster (choose your tank sitters wisely!) seem to be recovering well... one's a pink and the other is a turquioise/orange and I've come to the conclusion that both are the sun worshipping medium-flow type. my ruby red dragonet bonded with my randall's pistol shrimp, so probably not going to add a yasha at this point lol. also I've been trying to catch this ~4" red bristleworm (fireworm?) for like the past week and it's getting ridiculous. that may seem small to some of you guys but this tank is only 19" across
  4. finally, a good use for those silly little containers
  5. Oh man, that's so cool! I didn't know they danced like that when they spawned... Considering that there's not a ton of information on ruby red dragonets in the wild, and the fact that they and Randall's pistol shrimp share different localities (I think?) this is pretty interesting. I might write a paper on this next time I need to for class..... @Mandinga: Suzu is a lover, not a fighter! lol (Otterchow is the one to look out for....)
  6. it was great to meet you guys! glad to be here
  7. once upon a time, I had a randalli/candy pistol shrimp & yasha goby combo. one day, like an idiot, I forgot to replace the temporary acrylic piece I was using to cover a 2in gap between the filter and the lid (rimless tank, custom glass lid). yasha goby decided to jump in search of the meaning of life, and turned into a yasha potato chip :/ fast forward and I replaced the yasha with a ruby red dragonet due it its commitment to staying submerged. for the last week or so, under actinic light only, I've observed my dragonet hanging out by the entrance of my shrimp's burrow, dorsal fin up & on the lookout. pistol shrimp then sneaks out to grab larger grains of sand/etc. and retreats back into its house. this goes on for at least 20 minutes and dragonet will peck at the sand as the shrimp digs around...... just... what? has anyone else seen this behavior? I'd get a video but I don't have a camera that can film under actinic light only......
  8. PIEFISH!? How appropriate. Maybe I will see you around the forum now.

I know right? and yeah! and I'll definitely be around more once I get further drowned into the world of coral........

  9. yes, I finally made an acct

  10. Hey all! My name's Lex, and I'm sure I've seen several of you around in the Salem/PDX/Wilsonville area. I've done planted tanks for a good amount of time, but I'm new to the salt business. Right now I have a 5g nano that's mostly ricordea/yuma, zoas, and two colonies of acans... not much at the moment. I've got a rimless 8g that's currently empty (will eventually hold contents of the 5g) & I'm planning on purchasing a ~30g once I finish moving and everything is settled in. I hope to foray into the world of SPS with the 30g, so we'll see what the future holds... I work over at Critter Cabana, so I'm learning about reef keeping at an accelerated pace, aha.
