I would imagine that running them at full intensity will shorten their life span, but in my case I need them to be that high to get the light spread I need.

Where do you maintain your paramaters at for good zoa growth and lighting?

On my zoa frag tank I run it a little dirty. I only run the skimmer at night and try to feed everyday.

Mag-1300

All others read 0

 

For lighting I run ocean revives with blues at 50 and Whites at 30. 3 hour periods of just blues in the morning and evening. They are About 20" off the water and run for 12 hours a day. So my zoas are definitely in low light. Probably could even go up a little.

On my frag tank the lights are about 20" above the tank and right now they are at about 60%blue 50% white. I'm slowly increasing mind up to 100% both channel though because I'm not getting the colors I want. Growth is good but colors are not what I want. Such as my PC rainbow having lots of green in it. That just means it's in "low" light. I prefer the redish look over green. Same thing with my red planet.
