  1. Very nice looking stock. What parameters do you need to keep them healthy?

thank you! I keep my parameters very similar to that of SPS with a few exceptions. Nitrate, nitrite, phosphates and ammonia all read 0. My calcium sits at about 470ppm and my alk is at 9 dKh. I also keep my salinity at 1.025. I try to run the system as clean as possible. :)

  2. I have always had a love for anemones but never owned one for fear that they would sting my SPS. So I've decided to set up and anemone propagation system! Right now I'm just collecting a few different varieties of Bubble Tip Anemones. So far I've got 3 RBTAs that bible up wonderfully and two that almost never bubble up (they've got a mind of their own) and today I picked up 8 rainbow BTAs and they are gorgeous!.My plan is to sell them to local reefers such as yourselves and also to try and supply the LFS to help cut back on anemones harvested from the ocean.

Right now I'm feeding the anemones every three days. They are very spoiled, and get salmon for their dinner. :) went fishing this fall and saved lots of the extra salmon "scraps" for my anemones. Right now I'm sitting at 13 anemones and plan to cut about half of them in a month or two depending on size. Unless they decide to split on their own from feeding them so much :)

Now for the part you guys actually like, here some pics of the nems! They look orange but are a dark red in person!

  3. Thank you for moving it over to private conversation Salty Pickle. If the mods could close this thread that would be awesome. Most of the zoas are sold. Hopefully I'll have more in a few weeks/months :) Thanks everyone again!!

  4. So I posted an update of my corals on another forum and I had somebody come down on me pretty hard for misrepresenting what I had. What you told me and what you claim on this thread is not "Green Bay Packers". According to the members of Reef Central, Nano Reef, Zoabrary.com, Zooid.com, cuttlefish is selling green bay packers (look nothing like this), and various vendors, your information is incorrect. They are in fact radioactive dragon eyes. Unless you can provide me some solid evidence that everybody is wrong, I will assume that you do not know what you are selling and others should not be misled into thinking they have something they don't.

Salty Pickle, I can guarantee you that the zoas I sold you are Green Bay Packers. I bought them off of a very well respected zoas expert on this forum as Green Bay packers. The Green Bay Packers that I sold you do not have a defined orange polyp spot in the center, this is probably the reason most people are doubting their authenticity. They have slightly morphed in my system and that caused them to loose that bright orange spot. That is one of the reasons I have a macro shot of the zoa polyp so you can see the features of it. cf4ce92fa8cadcd11769ab5c030f4433.jpg this picture is a zoomed in picture of the exact frag you received. as you can see, if you look closely at the center of the polyp you will see the faded orange center. Also on Green Bay packer zoas the bright green on the skirts starts about half way down each tentacle. As you can see on my zoas the bright green starts half way up the tentacle. The body of Green Bay packers is a greenish blue, same as my polyps. The frags that you received are indeed Green Bay Packers, they are just a little faded with you were able to see in the original picture. Their orange spot is just not very prominent. My goal was not to mislead anyone, that is why I posted a picture of the actual zoas. There are many morphs of zoas, they look slightly different, but their name is still the same. If I did not know the name of a zoa I would have listed it as an Unknow which is what I did for a couple different zoas on my sale list.

This thread was also viewed about 500 times if I recall correctly and I imagine some zoas experts looked at the sale thread. There are many many of those zoas experts apart of our community such as MrBret, Softy, TheClark, Sasquatch and more. I would hope that if I had mistakenly advertised the wrong zoa that one of them would have called me out on it and let know know I was wrong.

Furthermore, I do not appreciate you trying to publicly shame me without contacting me first to talk about the issue. This is something that could have been solved privately.

  5. I can't really lend mine out because they belong to a lab. I often look at this site. I know it looks super spammy but it's pretty useful. http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/ttl-driver-has-variable-voltage-pot-course-current-93429.html

There is also this on craiglist. I don't think you really need to a certain wavelength that will kill them. It's more of just a high beam. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/tix/5308485011.html

Thank you for the info! I actually have a green laser like that! I guess I'll have to run an experiment and see if it works! I'll let you guys know how it goes.

  6. My dad keeps thinking about getting one to take care of his majanos but the price tag always stops him. I'm really hoping someone on the forum has one that they would rent out.

  7. I picked one up but the batteries were junk. Need new batteries. Also picked up the blue blocking laser glasses, those are a must (or whatever color you need). It is quite a shock to look at your tank with those on.

Heck if you haven't tried it, look at your tank with yellow safety glasses, it is pretty insane too.

Gotta admin I am afraid of damaging vision just for the cool factor of cooking aptasia with a laser, maybe not worth it?

Thanks for the insight! Did you ever get to use the laser before the battery crapped out? If so would you recommend it with the proper eye protection?

  8. YEAH me too! I was wondering the same thing. I also have a pretty significant mojano invasion...anyone have one to rent?

I was hoping some would rent one out, that would save some serious money haha.

  9. Have any of you guys ever used a laser to eliminate majanos or aiptasia? I've seen the YouTube videos but was curious if anyone on here has used one before. My fathers display has LOTS of majanos and we are trying to find an efficient way to eliminate them.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. That sounds like my measurements there, slightly opaque...And don't forget to rinse them with tank water before putting them back into the aquarium.

Definitely, wouldn't want that stuff in with all the other little critters haha.

  11. I was always told to just pour enough in so that it was milky and you couldn't see the frags. Been doing that for a little while and I've never noticed any ill effects. :)

  13. Did you see ssappingtons 30 dollar BTAs by chance? If not, check em out. They are very nice, I have one and just love it. Much brighter IMO than his picture shows:

    http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/36031-orange-bta-30/

I did, but I'm not able to pick one up from him :( I was hoping to get one from him when I was delivering the zoas to people at C&C on Saturday but he said he has to work. And being down in Corvallis/Salem going to school, it makes it hard to get up to Vancouver very often. They look so nice though!
