    Tiny Tank, Tiny Budget Contest

Alas, I concede the contest to Chris. His tank is amazing. I've seen it in person and I've never seen a more care-fored, original, and colorful pico. For fun, here are my final pics. I had to turn the lights on to take the pictures, so the coral hasn't opened up yet. I'm leaving to go to a wedding so I couldn't wait until the lights came on to post. Nice job, Chris! Congratulations! Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

May Picture of the Month - Anemone

It's an old picture, before I put them in my tank. They're all in there now, though it is a little like Where's Waldo trying to find them in the 300-gallon.

    Tiny Tank, Tiny Budget Contest

I'm headed out of town, but I wanted to get my pictures in before the deadline. I've had a lot of coral death this last 2 weeks so there's not much to see. I'm still in it, though!

    Dr Tims? Or something better?

There is a very useful thread on Reef2Reef, especially the first few posts. It is buried in the Fish Disease and Treatment forum, in a hospital tank thread, but it is just as useful for display tank cycling. It discusses the difference between live bacteria products (like Dr. Tim's) and inert bacteria products (like Seachem Stability). https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/ammonia-control-in-a-hospital-tank.296119/ As a lot of you know, I do a lot of fish quarantining and I use Instant Ocean BioSpira (which is a live bacteria product like Dr. Tim's) only because it is easier to obtain and less expensive. I get it from Amazon. Wherever you get it, check the "use by" date for this product. Also, even though live bacteria gives instant results, don't get complacent about checking your ammonia levels. Good luck!

    Tiny Tank, Tiny Budget Contest

Here's my update. I've been out of town for the last week so nothing really has happened. I gave it a quick cleaning this morning. I'm going to add some more corals in the next week or two and hopefully get a fish. Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

April Meeting At Cuttle Fish and Coral!!

So many people pitched in to help. I want to add @Paratore Cody was right there stepping up to help me with the coral group buys and grow out contest frags. Cody is the guy who won the grand prize light. I guess it was good karma at work. Also, a ton of people brought food! It was quite a spread. Behind the scenes @reefnjunkie Brad and Chris @Snarkywere bagging and fragging. And...let us not forget...OUR AMAZING PRESIDENT, KIM @Emerald525! She worked right beside Jeff @CuttleFishandCoralto make this an unforgettable meeting.

Hey guys! Our updates are due in like an hour. Let's see 'em! @Flash21@Bubbles@rdavis@Oregonic@Kingfisher Here's mine. I lost a couple of coral and, alas, my frogfish did not make it. I might make some changes this coming week though.

    Sunburst Ich

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sean. Chris and I have been in contact. Unfortunately, I'm closing down my quarantine tanks for the summer, so I can't keep her here. I'm doing a lot of traveling and quarantine tanks take daily attention. But, I'm always happy to lend a 10 gallon to someone who needs a hospital tank. Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

    White spots on Foxface

My first guess is a bacterial infection. If you can get him out of the tank and into quarantine it is best to treat him there. If not, try soaking his food in a mixture of Seachem Focus and Metro. Read the instructions on how to do that. Like Miles said, he looks thin, which means he probably isn't eating. I agree with him that you should try different types of food, especially mysis and brine, if you haven't done that already. This is my first go-to link in identifying diseases. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/fish-disease-index-pictorial-guide.285708/ There are also some treatment suggestions in that forum which you might find helpful. Good luck!
