  1. Group buy time!!

There have been some amazing acan colonies available at CnC lately. I bet he could pick up a nice one for us.
  2. Missing bags of frags

Did someone grab two bags from the tank closest to the door by mistake? One bag says Scott and the other is a sandwich bag. Scott can't seem to keep track of his crap so I have to do this post. Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk
  3. Missing bags of frags

You can't prove that. Oh...I mean no they're not.
  4. Missing bags of frags

I didn't think to look underneath the shelves so I'll do that when I get home. Good idea. Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk
  5. SAVE THE DATE! The March meeting will be held at my house on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. PM me for the address, or look on the PNWMAS Facebook page. There will be food, festivities, and fun! Badxgillen will be presenting Pests and Hitchhikers. Don't miss it!
  6. March meeting at Holly's!

Thanks everyone for making it out to the meeting. I saw a lot of familiar faces, and met a few new reefers, too. I want to thank everyone who helped out -- I can't even begin to name names. There is so much that goes in to these meetings that it takes a village, as they say. The officers/board members are amazing and we work so smoothly together now that we just fill in the gaps naturally. There are so many other people who just stepped in and helped out when they saw something needed to be done. It is so appreciated. I want to give a personal shout out to Kate, @Flash21 Chris's wife, who not only came early to help out, but did not leave until everything was picked up and she had vacuumed the whole house. Oh and Chris helped too. : )
  7. Missing bags of frags

PS Scott says they have flatworms. Kidding.... Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk
  8. March meeting at Holly's!

    Most definitely!
  9. March meeting at Holly's!

TODAY'S THE DAY! See you all at my house at 2 p.m. Message me for the address. Can't wait!
  10. Tiny Tank, Tiny Budget Contest

Here's my entry -- A 3-gallon exposed rock peninsula Tank ($20.21) modified to include an internal sump ($5.20 TAP Plastics), silicone and black vinyl from Chris @Flash21 (thanks, my friend!). I have a little cobalt mini pump ($15.60) with a little bitty hose and elbow from Orchard's ($1.08). I borrowed a nice little Kessil light from my bestie, but I need to figure out something more permanent. I'm going to try to run this with just a Polyfilter, but I may add some ChemiPure, and maybe even throw in some chaeto. Total: $42.09 Since we're experimenting, I picked up a fogger from Amazon ($9.99) that I am going to try to use as a sort of ATO. I'm not sure how I am going to pull it off, but I'm going to try. The look I'm going for here is mist-over-the-water that doubles as an ATO. I've got some air plants on the exposed rock (we'll see if the salt creep gets 'em). The aquascape is a work-in-progress.
  11. March meeting at Holly's!

It's almost here! Sunday at 2 pm. It's going to be a blast. I know a lot of you have already been here so you know your way around. Feel free to use the front door, the door by the upstairs garage, or the aquarium room door. We're having sandwiches and chips. Feel free to bring some snacks/sides/desserts to share, but we'll have plenty so don't worry if you don't get around to it. I've heard from a couple of newer members who aren't sure "if they're invited." Heck yeah! There will be a lot of people who know each other, a lot of people who know of each other, and a lot of people who know no one. Everyone is welcome! We'll have nametags, so make sure you grab one. I've also been asked if I'll be having one of my $10 sales. I have lots of $10 frags for sale, but since my focus will be on the meeting I might be recruiting a few friends to help out if people want to go home with a couple of things. We'll have to see how that works out. I am really looking forward to Bert's presentation. He is a fountain of information and I understand he'll have some visual aids. There are some amazing raffle prizes and proceeds benefit the club so plan on having some fun. Don't miss it! Shoot me a PM if you need the address. See you all Sunday!
  12. Gotta love kids

Just dose some vodka to go with the OJ. Your livestock will drink like fishes. Sorry...I couldn't resist.
  13. Howdy Y'all

Welcome, Jeff! So glad you made it to the forum. Think about coming to the club meeting at my house in Southwest Portland next Sunday, March 18. Here are some details: www.pnwmas.org/forums/topic/42338-march-meeting-at-hollys/ Holly
  14. March Picture of the Month - Angelfish

Bump! Let's see those angels! I know that @Flashy Fins and @reefnjunkie have some amazing angel pics. How about @danlu_gt? I bet @Bubbles can come up with something. I know there is more...don't make me call you out.
  15. injury or illness?

It looks like a bacterial infection to me. It may go away on its own, but it's a pretty big gash. Since he's in quarantine already, I'd probably add Metro to the water (or, even better, mix it with his food with Focus if he'll take it). Metro is pretty gentle. If you want to go all out, you can do a mix of Metro, Kanaplex, and Furan 2 which would cover more types of infection. These medications are pretty easy to use; just follow the directions on the package. Reef2Reef has a Fish Disease Treatment and Disease forum that has some really helpful stickies, too.
  16. Budget pico contest. Who's in?

If I know Jack, that would be a big no. He has some of the most creative pico/nano builds I've seen. Yes, this is a very good question. I would like to plumb the pico into my 500 gallon system. It might help a little keeping the parameters stable. Would that be okay? ; ) Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk
  17. Budget pico contest. Who's in?

I might give this a try. I expect it will be quite humbling to try to maintain a tank that size. People tend to think bigger is more difficult, when it is just the opposite.
  18. The Reef Room Has Started... sort of...

Jeremy, is the sump just going to be open on the top? Have you thought about putting a high table/workbench over it? By the way, are you wearing a hoodie in your mock-up???
  19. Snail eggs?

Just curious, how do you know they are turbo snails?
  20. March Picture of the Month - Angelfish

This was from my fish-only upstairs. I would never put an angel in a reef tank. Who would be silly enough to do that?!?
  21. March Picture of the Month - Angelfish

    I'll get us started!
  22. The Reef Room Has Started... sort of...

Looks great! So exciting. I think it is a great idea to have the wider frag tank in the middle. It will make it easier to access the corals as well as clean both the front and back. With the narrower one near the wall, it will be much easier to reach. If you can somehow fit a work table in there, that would be a great benefit--even a folding one. Next to the sink would be ideal. I'm assuming you are hanging lights from the ceiling?
  23. Prime lights with mounts

    @youcallmenny@kknight Of course!
  24. Aiptasia control?

Cuttle Fish has them often. I should mention that there's mix reviews on Molly Millers and whether they really do help control aiptasia. There's some pretty convincing articles, though. It might be worth a shot. Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk
