  1. Is there a way i can use this dosing calculator with BRS products? With the first link it doesn't seem so.
  2. Hmmm, well 1500 is def. plenty. Wish i knew how to help, just remembered Randy speaking of certain affects that can happen and just wanted to share.
  3. I noticed that you didn't list your magnesium level, From the very little i understand, as far as i know if your Mg. levels are off/low this will make it extra hard maintaining a stable alk,ca level as the Mg. helps keep them in check and utilize each other. This is kind of how i understood it, i maybe wrong, i hope someone will help me understand too if that's the case. From the article, "Additionally, magnesium impacts how effectively calcium and carbonate that are "trying" to precipitate are able to do so. It does this by altering the growing calcium carbonate solid so that it no longer looks as inviting for additional calcium and carbonate ions to stick to it." From the conclusion here. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-06/rhf/#18 Edit: Found something else that sparked my interest and would like to learn more about, keep in mind, i can't quite wrap my head around this yet so i don't know if we are talking the same things. From the article, "How big is this effect? In terms of magnesium, it is hard to say exactly how big the effect will be because the amount of magnesium deposited depends on the species involved, and ranges from less than 1% magnesium by weight in the skeleton, to more than 4%. Consequently, the magnesium demand in one aquarium may be very different from the magnesium demand in a second aquarium whose calcium demand is exactly the same." "Nevertheless, we can roughly calculate the magnitude of the effect. Depositing pure calcium carbonate requires 20 ppm of calcium for every 1 meq/L of alkalinity. Substituting magnesium to the extent of 1% by weight in the skeleton decreases the calcium content by 4.1%. So the demand is then 19.2 ppm calcium for every 1 meq/L of alkalinity. Substituting magnesium to the extent of 4% by weight in the skeleton decreases the calcium content by 16.5%. So the demand is then 16.7 ppm calcium for every 1 meq/L of alkalinity. The change in the balance of the demand caused by magnesium incorporation into corals will depend on the exact species driving the demand, but can be larger than the other causes described in this article." Article here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-12/rhf/index.htm Yes, Exodus, i will def. give that a read as well. Looks like i can learn a lot from that one. Thanks!
  4. Seems as if the sound loops on that video, sorry about that I can delete it. nvm, fixed it.
  5. I just wanted to say again a huge thanks once again to Rudy "and wait! His wife, she works just as hard!" and the whole of the PNWMAS community and board for making these things happen. This was my first meeting so i just kinda sat back and watched how things work and WOW! there's a lot going on. Also wanted to share my Torch and see if others might want to share theirs as well. Very happy! I'd love to see that black torch!? I'm not sure how i got lucky once again but it appear i chose a torch that had 3 heads, (noticed when dipping and changing plugs) but i'm def no pro at analyzing coral skeletons Maybe it just looked that way with how they grow. VID_20180513_133528378.mp4.24809462491acc706f8380c44ef80b51 (2).mp4 Anyone notice that purple torch? Some of you may remember this thread/pic
  6. Thanks, that never even crossed my mind.
  7. This is great and yes thank you Rudy! Are these raffle tickets good for each individual item? In other words do you need to have a raffle ticket for each item to have a chance at being drawn and winning an item? So each prize is a separate ticket/raffle? Sorry, never done this before.
  8. Haha a couple of those look extremely pica as in really spicy Yum yum indeed.
  9. ChrisQ

    Sump

Yes sir it is, is that a Blue?
  10. Haha! I love sticks but they don't love me. I'm sad
  11. Can't believe i'm 2nd, never been a part of one of these before. Super excited! And thanks again Rudy! You always come though with flying colors. You never disappoint.
  12. A club meeting with Rudy? Yep bet your butt i'll be there! Tee hee not to mention i want my Torch OMG! Tacos too? You're killing me!
  13. I'm sorry all for any confusion, but yes this was a "LOT" sale The price that i set was contingent of the size and was going to change/charge accordingly to size, most are in the $30 range that's why i started there. I do realize not very many of us can afford or house all this at once but it took years as we know to raise all of these and i decided i don't really want to let a few go here and there but make someones dream of a nice Clown nem tank a reality. I actually spent little more than a year and a half searching for a cube to build my nem tank even had a custom overflow box made in preparation to start drilling the tank. But sometimes life gets in the way. I'm in no hurry, i really want to progress and more then likely i will but i'm just throwing out there to see if there is any interest in a lot buy of nems. Thanks for reading PNWMAS!
  14. How do i look at it and it not die in a terrible death? No, but for real i'll come up with real questions and try keeping them again. Pretty sure not having a calcium reactor and having a drop of at least 1 dkh per day doesn't help me.
  15. The problem that i may have with my truck i was told it might be the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. I really need someone to tell me what is actually the issue so i can order the parts and try and get it back on the road, being that it doesn't run at the moment i cant get it to a shop very easy.
  16. WOW! you maybe my saving grace. Do you know 4x4 Toyota's? A 1994 ext cab to be exact Not my rig but same thing.
  17. Pump worked great! Thanks again! You can buy calibration fluid that is set at 35ppt and there is a tiny screw on the top under a tiny rubber cap, that is how to calibrate it. Drop 3 drops on, check it, if its not at 35ppt dial the screw until it is. winner winner chicken dinner! Your corals will thank you I've also noticed that if you don't have a actually ph problem, thats a parameter not worth chasing if that makes sense. Again IMO
  18. Hi Chad, do you have a petco or a petsmart in your area? If so, go in and pick yourself up a "api saltwater master test kit" You can also pick up a alkalinity test kit there to get you by until you can place an order. I would recommend either Salifert or Red sea. API will get you by but its not the best IMO. These two are also very important. As things progress you will need to keep tabs on your magnesium levels as magnesium helps keep calcium and alkalinity stable. This is actually something you should do from the start. These test kits will certainly get you by until you can aqurie some of the higher end ones. Also where we meet the other day, there is a great shop in Tualatin called Upscales fish & reptiles located right off martinazzi that has these higher end kits in stock. What are you using to test salinity? bobber thingy?, swingarm? or a refractometer ? I would definitely suggest a refractometer and keep it calibrated. Hope this helps you out a bit
  19. Just trying to gauge interest if there is anyone out there that would like to purchase about 25-28 of them at a price of about $30 each for the lot. Many are different sizes so i'm willing to work the price. Example pictures: Please note, these pictures were taken with a gel filter to help cut the blues. My avatar is more of their true color. Baskets are getting a little over loaded and since these pictures, there's twice the nems!
