  1. Cleaning out the bookshelf! I've been out of the hobby for a few years now... I don't need these - but they sure helped me when I was a newbie. I'll put them here and see if they may benefit somebody in this community. These are a must-have for the reference library. All are in like-new condition. Local pick-up (Hood River) or meet-up in the Portland area is doable. Shipping can be negotiated. Aquarium Corals - Selection, Husbandry, and natural History, 2001; Eric Borneman $25 Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook, 1997; Dr Robert Goldstein $5 Successful Saltwater Aquariums - A Beginners Guide, 1994; John H. Tullock $5 The Tropical Marine Fish Survival Guide, 1995; Gordon Kay $5
  2. Cool! Um, last post there was in Oct '10??....
  3. I bought the same pump for my 72gal im refurbing. Anxiously awaiting it's delivery.... Any luck with this question via reefflo website or customer support?
  4. Yeah, the more i read-up on closed loop design, the more nervous I get about potential flooding with an HOB overflow. The Glass-hole looks pretty good. Hrd to find any bad reviews. Drilling the tank will be stressful.... Lol. Beth, il let you know if I order one. We can get you that cover thrown in. So, are there any other retrofit overflow kits out there? Thanks!
  5. Anybody have experience and opinions on glass-holes overflow kits? Are there other kits to consider? This 72gal I'm refurbishing is setup with a hob overflow, but I'm thinking it may be worth upgrading to an internal overflow.... Thoughts? This decision will affect the design of the rock wall I want to build, and the final design of the closed loop plumbing. Thx!
  6. Rogerthat... Thx. I just placed the order with Marine Depot. Figuring out the fittings I need to get the inlet/outlet down from 2"/1.5" to 3/4" was fun...
  7. Thanks for the info guys. I think I will go with the Reeflo Snapper Hybrid. I'm only shoving ~90gal of total volume, and wont have a bunch of extra stuff in-line. I'll throttle it back with a ball valve... If I had the budget I would have gone with a Red Dragon.
  8. So what's so good about the ATB pumps? Marine depot shows the Red Dragon pumps discontinued. Not that it matters, as $800 for a pump seems crazy.... I'm leaning toward reeflo....
  9. I'm not sure on the GPH, but it's a 72g display tank and 10g sump. I think il go look at the iron might tho. Thanks for the replies!
  10. I discovered the Custom Sealife pump on the system I'm refurbishing is shot. I'm looking for opinions on the best pump to replace it with. Priority is 1.) reliable 2.) quiet 3.) efficient. Thanks!
  11. So 2 BRS singles may be a configuration that allows for independent control of the flow to each reactor....? I take it there's only a single flow control on the BRS dual chamber... If so, I think being able to adjust ea flow separately is ideal.
  12. What reactors are you guys using? I'm researching this and am leaning toward the BRS Dual-Reactor. Ease of maint is a great feature. I cant find any negative reviews on it.
  13. Wow, great thread! Your setup is looking real nice.

I'm getting ready to cure a bunch of rock myself. What's the bucket with the tubing, egg crate and heater for? Great thread btw...
  15. Yeah, i know...weird question. I need to cure a bunch a dry rock for my 72gal build and don't really want BUY a trough.... Anybody out there willing to loan a big (55 or 75gal?) trough that i can cure my rock in for a month or 2? Thanks! Dean
  16. I guess my 1st post here should an intro.... I recently relocated to Hood River from Southern California. I've been in the hobby for a number of years, frequenting ReefCentral since '02. Thanks to Markdadof2 and Michael7979 for pointing me this direction. I'm stoked to find a local source of info and interaction! I was out of the hobby for a few years, then recently got talked back into it by my son. So now I have a little 10gal nano up and running. That was pretty easy to move from SoCal... But now im getting back "all-in" with a 72gal bowfront. It's a re-furb, meaning i got it off Cragslist and now refinishing the stand and canopy ,cleaning up all the old stuff and collecting the pieces-parts needed to eventually have a beautiful mixed reef display. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to attending events, getting involved. Anybody out there from the Gorge area?? Dean
