  1. Sorry for the late response...I've had a friend in town for the past 2 weeks. I don't care if you want to redistribute, but I'm sticking with my frags =) I have 3 full polyps still BUT...I have 3 or 4 babies..so, I'm more than happy with my progress.
  2. Thanks for the responses all...even if it's not what I wanted to hear :( The problem with the glass heaters is I have euro-bracing on my tank so theres no way to mount one of those heaters without the dial being underwater. Guess I'll try using 2 300w ones instead....
  3. I've had a few 500w titanium heaters and they all seem to die really quickly. My current heater is a Won-Bros, and it is only 4 months old and it died overnight. I've used Finnex heaters in the past with the same result. They are controlled with an Apex controller/temp probe, and plugged into the outlet with the 10amp relay and not the 5amp switch, though I've tried the 5amp outlets in the past. The odd thing is, the 300w backup heater I have in the sump in the basement has been going strong for about a year now. It does have it's own dedicated controller, whereas my main tank heater does not. Does anyone else have this problem? Am I doing something wrong? This is really driving me nuts...I can't believe I need to replace my heater every 4 months.
  4. Still at 3 here. Have new bulbs coming in tomorrow...mine are way overdue for a replacement, hopefully that will help.
  5. Maybe we can temporarily turn off posting images to conserve bandwidth? For people who don't notice this post..just a thought. I'm also willing to toss in money towards an emergency fund for the interim if needed...
  6. My T-5s are definitely due for a replacement. The MH are only 3 months old or so.. Nope. Undetectable with my Salifert kit. I tested everything before I posted, since I knew someone would bring it up. Neglected to post it though...All parameters normal. So I think I'm going to cut my MH down to 8 hours and replace my T-5s. Any place around here carry 48" T5 Actinic? Thanks for the response all!
  7. My corals seem to have decent growth but the colors are kinda blah... I'm wondering if my lights may be on too long...I can't recall why I did this initially and after writing it down I think it may be extreme. I have 2x250 MH 14500k bulbs and 4x54w Pure Actinic bulbs. My light also has a dimming function. The actinic come on at 5:00am at 5% power and increase to 100% power at 7am. From 7am to 730am, it is 100% actinic. At 730am the Halides also kick in and stay on until 630pm. The Actinics stay at 100% from 630pm to 700pm. They then dim to 5% power at 9pm and then turn off. Should I cut back on my MH? I'm not so worried about the actinic due to the dimming. So for easier reading: 5:00am : Actinic 5% 7:00am : Actinic 100% 7:00am - 7:30am : Actinic Only 7:30am : MH turn on 7:30am - 6:30pm : MH + Actnic 6:30pm : MH turn off 6:30pm - 7:00pm : Actnic Only 9:00pm - Actinic 5% My bulbs are also due for replacement so...suggestions on that would be nice as well. I'm thinking of switching 2xActinic+ and 2xPure Actinic...and maybe a lower K rating on my MH? Lights are complicated...(nutty)
  8. "Stop calling me Warren! My name isn't F'ing Warren!" "His name isn't f'ing Warren" "His name isn't f'ing Warren" "His name isn't f'ing Warren" "I thought his name was Warren?"
  9. I haven't done anything to mine. I think the 3 that are left are stable as-is. They are wide open. I'm more so asking for future reference.
  10. This is my first competition so I'm refraining from commenting on replacements since I have absolutely no background. Whatever the group, or Eric, or whomever decides is fine by me.. Regarding gluing though, I guess my problem is "pushing" the polyp onto the frag plug...it seems I would damage the polyp by trying to press it into the glue/frag plug. Or should I fill the gap with glue? Is there some sort of magic trick I'm missing? (scratch)
  11. No replacement here... I'm going to take my 3 and run with it.. What do you recommend? I have some IC-Gel... but I've never fragged or had to glue fresh polyps down before.
  12. You are not helping your nemesis position sir!! Agreed!
  13. Sadly, I lost a couple too.. I think I'm down to 3? I'm a little nervous about the front one as it seems "loose" but it's holding on this far.. They seem to be healthy though, I'll try and get pictures up tonight.
