  1. Thanks all for your help in ID'ing these - they are definately Majano Anemones. Manual removal last night has already reduced the population by half. Removal was surprisingly easy given the difficulties controlling these cited in most discussion threads. Peeled right off leaving nothing behind. On to Kalk paste for the rest, which seems to be the best solution cited in most threads for lmited populations. Thanks for you swift replies!
  2. I picked up two of these small reddish brown polyps that appear to be small anemones hitchhiking on other frags about a year ago. They divided after about six months. While generally attractive and well behaved, the four suddenly simultaneously divided again last week, and I now have 8-10. Size is about 1-1.5 cm across. Photo is attached. What are they and do I need to be concerned with eliminating them? Thanks for any ID assistance and advice you can provide.
  3. I've had a rather odd ailment wipe out my year-old zoas and a portion of my Green Star Polyps over the past 4-6 weeks with no detectable cause. They have closed up and eventually melted away with no obvious pox, predators or changes in water quality. Fish, inverts and my other corals including assorted mushrooms and favias are just fine and the GSP's have started to recover nicely. For lack of any other explanation, I am assuming that this may have been a fungal or bacterial infection that was not curable with normal treatments often cited in this and other forums. Oh well. My question is - How long should I wait before reintroducing any new zoa specimens to this system? 2-4-6 weeks - Thoughts?
  4. I'm running a 30 gallon system with a mix of softies and LPS that is a little over a year old. The first coral added was a small frag of Green Star Polyps that has since grown into a beautiful, healthy colony. This past week, all polyps suddenly retracted. The mat still seems pink and healthy, but a polyp or two are only poking out sporadically. All other softies, LPS and fish are thriving, and water parameters are normal. The only change was the addition of a small frag of war coral favia added two days before the GSP's went south. Anyone know why this hardiest of corals might have reacted in this manner? Seems odd that my zoas, shrooms and favias are doing so well, but the GSP's so suddenly took a nosedive. Might there be some chemical warfare going on with the new war coral? And, do I just be patient and wait for the GSP to rebound? Thanks for any advice you can provide.
