  10. Yeah Steve is still around, he pops in Upscales every now and then... pretty sure he's still focused on cold water. I haven't talked to him in quite some time. Holly, I don't think he ever had an official build thread... Maybe something on Reef Central but you can always look over his site for some inspiration! http://www.oregonreef.com/index.html
  11. While Danik's tank was awesome Steve Weast's tank hands down was the best in-wall the NW ever saw.
  12. I got a window saying to clear my dns because the site had moved...
  13. lol... Guess I should clarify that a little more, I refuse to use my apex to turn my c02 off and on to chase a specific ph in the reactor, too often I see people obsess about the ph value in their reactor yet can't keep they're tanks alk stable for the life of them. By no means and I saying my way is right and everyone else is wrong, I just know what works for me. Personally in the 20 some odd years I've been doing this I've learned the more I add a fancy new gadget or fiddle with things more than the most simple and direct way of doing them it causes problems. Hence why my whole system is so simple... The MJ should get you back and running a constant flow.
  14. I just run an old school setup, I won't dare run my reactor via my apex. The only way my apex can turn off my bottle is if the overall tank ph does something crazy. We were keeping stable sps tanks with calcium reactors without all this crazy controllers and stuff many years ago without problems. Just some food for thought... On a side note I still have a basic single stage regulator with $120 needle valve from Swagelok and my reactor really is a "set it and forget it" Only problem I have is needing a bigger reactor to keep up with my tanks demand.
  15. Ok good, I've seen a few people have inconsistent reactor flow from trying to limit the flow on the incoming side instead of the outgoing. If you have a controller turning your c02 off and on that can also cause inconsistent flow from the reactor.
  16. How are you guys adjusting your effluent flow? Before or after the reactor?
  17. Definitely looks better and you'll be happy you did once things start growing out... I wish I could lower my main structures 3-4" since things are almost growing out of the top of the tank already.
  18. Please read the above post from a month ago... It's all been taken. No need to bump an old post over and over.
  19. Pretty sure I have a Galaxy around here somewhere I'll look tomorrow.
  20. I have a couple new bags here... I'll have to find them, they're packed in one of the many totes marked "fish tank stuff" lol Shoot me a pm with your number and I'll let you know how much I find tomorrow. I believe I have at least 4-5 3# bags.
  21. Richard Negret is a complete [language filter]... Although on the subject of single coral polyp propagation, Machado De Sousa has been experimenting with it for years. This is a perfect example of hobbyist gone wild! I haven't seen any updates in over a year but if you want something awesome to look over and read about check out his setup! https://coralmaternity.com/en/cm http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/incredible-8000l-2000-gallon-portugal-coral-farm http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1215102
  22. Never trust a check valve! At some point it will fail and it'll only take once.
  23. Ok I think I read this correctly, you need to be limiting the flow of the effluent from the output line and not the input. Limiting the flow via the input will prove to be very inconsistent, use a 1/4" johnny guest valve like the one pictured in the link below on the output line. You can pick them up at any home depot or ace hardware. http://www.ebay.com/itm/John-Guest-Quick-Connect-Shut-Off-Valve-1-4-JG-irrigation-fitting-qc-/130823287362
  24. Where's your ALK? Burnt tips can be a sign of your ALK being too high.
  25. I don't see why you couldn't cut it, solder it back together and heat shrink tube the exposed area. As long as you can solder a good joint there's no reason it wouldn't work.
