  1. Crazy... it looks really disorienting in the pics. Might be kind of freaky to swim in but very cool.
  2. Hey Curtis, I think Andy was getting at the issue of torsional (twist) rigidity which would normally be enhanced by fixed sheathing. I doubt it would be an issue on yours but you could address this by adding some cross bracing with tensioned cable if you wanted to. Wouldn't be too hard and would probably make the thing pretty much indestructible. Then again... I could be completely full of it yet again! Andy???
  3. Sounds just like my tank... a good deal for someone! Yeah - it would be a crying shame if you had to just set that up Troy (sad)
  4. I was actually hoping to try out the Verizon fiber optic bundle but it apparently isn't available where we are nor will they give any indication of when it might be! I am beginning to think all of these companies are pretty bad when it comes right down to it. It's kind of like "pick your poison!". I will, however, say that I never had any serious complaints about my Direct TV service - especially compared to cable - but that is about it.
  5. Sounds like a nice tank Troy. I love those "double cube" dimensions. Sounds like it could be a Tricon - I could probably tell from a pic but they have "seaswirl" cutouts on the top in the back corners and rounded front corners (front and sides are single, bent, piece of acrylic). FWIW.
  6. That thing is insane... Where is Dennis? Perhaps he could try his hand at surgically fragging this puppy! (clap) Lets see, if you could carve it into ten pieces then those ten into ten more... (naughty)
  7. Dang Mike... that is a shame that you have to give up those beautiful fish! I would love to have all of those but then you would have to sell me your tank to put them in! Good luck finding homes - gorgeous fish and very reasonable.
  8. Hey Randy, I would check out Dave and Bob at Davey Jones Locker. Dave built most of the sumps for their shop and has come up with some pretty nice designs... cool guy as well!
  9. (laugh)(laugh)(laugh)(laugh) That is too d%@# funny right there! Mark, I'm not sure what the insdie scoop is on the pricing for CSN but my understanding from impartial observers is that Comcast is requiring distribution of the channel in the base package of any satellite provider that buys rights but is asking a per viewer price that is that of a premium (i.e. pay) channel. Needless to say, the satellite providers aren't jumping on that option. Two years into "no deal" and I have to interpret this as Comcast deliberately trying to leverage their position into trying to take market share from satellite provideres in the metro area. Which, of course, is their right but certainly fans the flames of Comcast hate. I personally will continue to watch online streams rather than cave to this pressure to switch to what in my experience is an inferrior product in every way. At least I can make that choice while all those outside Comcast's provider range continue to have no option to switch even if they wanted to. Again, completely within their rights. I really blame the blazers here since they didn't write any terms into the contract trying to ensure distribution to their fan base and simply went with the dollar signs. May have been a good short term decision but, in the long run, perhaps not a very good PR move. Besides, think of the advertising dollars they are missing out on by not even being accessible to half the state! Bet they aren't getting the big sponsor bucks from Les Schwab any more... Anyway, sorry for the rant but I just don't accept that Comcast is asking a "fair" price in this scenario given the way it has played out. I think something similar happened in Philli with Sixers broadcast rights and was never resolved so the writting was pretty much on the wall as soon as this deal was inked. Again - everyone acting within their rights, just not with much honor me thinks.
  10. Thanks Ryan - great link. Someone else posted that a while back as well and it was encouraging to see a group have some real success with a technique for rapid outgrowth. Seems like it could have major implications for habitat restoration as well as general propagation.
  11. I would have to agree with that!
  12. Hey Jody - those blue/purple zoas look great, what lighting do you have them under. Maybe I should talk to Dennis... (plotting)
  13. Yeah... I wish you were closer Miles, I always see stuff of yours I would like to have but can't seem to find the time to hook up being in PDX - I don't like to deal with shipping livestock. I hope it finds a good home soon (or stays in your tank!).
  14. I can't believe that tort is still around... looks like a nice piece Miles (drooler)
  15. Man, wish I had room for that trigger - great looking fish!
  16. I would definitely recommend it. There are numerous benefits including the ability to add a (or a better) skimmer, refugium, additional live rock, reactors, etc., etc. plus the added stability of the additional water volume which will help with temp and pH swings (especially if you add a alternate light cycle refugium). Obviously, you don't have to incorporate all that at once but it certainly expands your options!
  17. In case you are considering this... I got a piece of this from Steve a while back and it is doing great. If you are looking for some nice Digi for a good price you should definitely check this out!
  18. Looks nice Steve - yes indeed, they are hard to resist! I hope he stays where you want him. Good luck!
  19. Nice work Ryan! I love the contrast between the black frame and the stained panels... very sharp (rock2)
  20. Very nice... thanks Mark. That will make a great piece for the 60 (clap)
  21. Wow... that is a bummer Dennis. Sorry to hear it has gotten bad enough that you are breaking up the collection - I know you love those pieces. Good luck finding new homes for them.
  22. Glad to hear it doing well Mark! Is this still in your cube? I'm surprised you could fit it in there - looks like a pretty big specimen. I would be interested to see a pic of that stag under lighting... sounds cool. Good luck with this piece!
  23. Hey Shawn, that little frag has some crazy color on it... really sweet! I hope it grows fast so you can start fragging it (plotting). Nice one.
  24. Probably a good thing you got the second one before he saw what you did to the first . How are they looking Dennis?
