  1. I’ve got a few I could donate to the cause. Just taking up space in the qt anyway…

    More sticks!

Love the variations of color. Nice collection and nice work on the pics!
  3. Alright, tank is gone. How about $100 for the apex? It’s in my way!
  4. Chiller is sold. Still gotta move this tank, people! And I have an older apex. Price drop to 150 for the apex
  5. Do it! I’ll even get you a couple frags of some starter stuff when you set it up!
  6. I want the one listed to stay with the tank for now but I have another. I’ll send you a PM
  7. Looking to sell some of the equipment I no longer use. I have been rearranging some some tanks and have a few things I need to move, in preparation for the net one. First off, I have a full nano set up. Tank Is an IM Nuvo 10 that sits on a metal locker from Ikea. Includes tank, stand, light (white AI Prime), DJ power strip, 5 gal ato tank, tune nano ATO, Eheim return pump, Koralia pump for circulation(240 I think), magnet cleaner, and a heater. Basically everything you need to get started minus fish and water. Asking $250.00 Next is a Reef Octopus Regal 200 Int DC Skimmer. Used, but in good condition with a fresh citric acid bath. SOLD Up next is an Oceanic 1/4 horse chiller...just in time for the heat! Ran this on a 120 gal tank and it did awesome. Since then we have installed A/C and I don't need it anymore. Asking $250. I aslo have an Apex Classic with probes and display. I know one of the probes is good, but I don't know about the other. I never set it up (bought used) but kept it in the water anyway. Asking $175 (Theres a picture of it, but I ran out of room. PM me and Ill show you that it all works. I am not currently looking for trades since this will be funding my new build, but if you have some high end mushrooms or LPS, and feel like you can't live without what I have, hit me up. I may change my mind... I am in Salem, but I frequently travel to the Beaverton area and would be happy to meet someone in that area, or Cuttlefish. Thanks for looking.
  8. That’s a slick set up! I am curious how you mounted the led strips? I’m looking to do something similar and I like how yours looks. Congrats on the success and keep the the awesome work!
  9. I am sorry for your loss. I know how tough it can be to lose furry family.
  10. That’s exciting. I have a Mayes pair of ocellaris I've been wanting to try to collect eggs from. This seems like a really fun extension of the hobby.
  11. I had a recent issue with salinity. I had been calibrating my refracto with one solution that I found was actually reading 1.023 even though it is suppose to read 1.026. Needless to say, my salinity was way off, not only on my tanks, but when I did water changes it kept getting worse. All I lost was 1 small sps frag that already was questionable thankfully. I think I caught it in enough time before any serious long term damage was done. However, I am now starting over with my dosing because of the obvious changes in parameters. Also, I have noticed some interesting algae issues that I can’t help but think are related. I have been tossing around the idea of a Milwaukee, but I don’t know that it would fix the issue I had with calibration fluid. I guess I’ll sit and wait til the time is right.
  12. Howdy y’all In a dream world, I would be able to find a tunze 9004 dc skimmer, but apparently that isn’t an option new... Just for fun, I thought I would see if anyone here has one laying around, maybe for a build you couldn’t get to, or maybe you bought one and it didn’t work for you... who knows. That’s what I am after. I don’t really want anything bigger than that. As a side note, if you think there is another option then I would consider it, but it would have to be ultra silent because it sits in my dining room somewhat in the center of the living area of our home. The tank is a water box 60.2 that has around 45 gal total volume. Thanks for lookin!
  13. If they are replacing the panel, now is the best time to incorporate some sort of plug for a future generator or even a transfer switch, but they can be cost prohibitive. For temp power, depending on your location, you should be able to borrow power from a neighbor with 100’ 12g extension cord. When I went through this, I gave my neighbor $20 and made them dinner. Kept my tank running without interruption other than unplugging the cord. Of course, a generator would be a good idea too. Considering what you likely have invested in your tank, it’s probably a small amount compared to total loss, and then you’re covered for future outages. Good luck!
  14. I am not an expert, so do not take the following as cold hard facts, just my opinion and experience, which is limited. (I think I'll start all my posts with this caveat) I too am using 2-part from BRS and I have not noticed a salinity increase in an 80ish gallon frag system. My guess is that the water changes do some of the work, and the rest I assume is my testing ability...my eyes can only read a general idea of salinity...down to .001 at best. I would guess that over time the salinity may rise, but only time will tell. From what I can tell, the addition of 'Part C' is only necessary on well established and high consumption tanks that are heavily stocked with sps/lps. In one of the BRS videos, Ryan explained (I have not read it to follow up) that Tropic Marin suggests NOT using their product on newer systems, but an established system more than a year old, and then only when the demand presents itself. This leads me to a couple follow up questions that I aim sure you were expecting. How old is your tank? What is in it? How many gallons? What is your water change regimen? I think answering these will get you a better response from someone with more knowledge. For example, if you have a 3 yr old 120 gal tank packed with a solid mixed reef, and rarely do water changes, then yes, Part C may help you with your trace elements. On the contrary, if you have an auto water change system or are on top of larger water changes, then you may have sufficient trace elements. Consumption and replacement values will be key. I do not know if there is some sort of calculator to estimate the consumption of trace elements based on replacement of Alk and Cal without testing for all of them independently, or an ICP test. I think an ICP test is an excellent idea and I look forward to when I feel one is necessary for me, if nothing else, just for fun.
  15. I have always been a big believer in hermits and snails to do the majority of the work, but I’m learning that it is not true. A tang or blenny can decimate algae in a matter of a week, especially in a smaller tank, where hermits and the like would take months, if do anything at all. I find it more likely that controlling nutrients is key, where the algae is kept at bay better than with the traditional clean up crew. I do, however, still like watching the little guys roam the tank and feel like they add a benefit in some way, even if on a small scale. I personally have not seen a huge impact from small crabs like emeralds on my corals, but I’m still new-ish and learning. I did learn the hard way that sally lightfoots, while fun to watch, are jerks and will kill fish, inverts and nip at coral. I like to keep the following in each tank, if nothing else just for fun. 1-2 emerald crabs depending on tank size 1- peppermint shrimp 1-cleaner shrimp Multiple nassarius snails (2-4 for a 25 gal) 1-3 hermits depending on tank size (1 for yours) Multiple Cerith snails (maybe 6 for a 25?) 1 large turbo or something like it Nerite snails (2 or 3) I would not hesitate to add more, but that’s mostly because I like watching them move around. I also like the idea of a sand sifting fish, unless you have a lot of corals in the sand bed. Then they just seem to make a mess. All in all, I feel like we have the same opinion. I like where you’re headed and am excited to see your tank progress.
  16. Holy tang gang, Batman! I doubt you could grow algae in there if you tried... Looking awesome.
  17. I have a majano wand if you want to try it. PM me and we can figure out details. I’ve used it before and it seemed to do the job, if you are thorough and keep up on it. A torch does the trick if you can remove the rock, and seems to be a really good solution, but if you can’t remove the rock for some reason the wand worked for me. Been a few years since I’ve seen one so I’m sure I can live without it for a while.
  18. That filter roller looks slick. I’m curious if you have tried the Klir one yet? I’m getting real sick of socks. Acrolandia looks like an oasis for corals. Nice work
  19. This is a really cool concept. I would be curious if you could build little rubble type plugs so it looks a little more natural and adds some depth. I’ll be setting up a new tank soon and may have to try this... lookin good! When do you get the tank and how soon can you expect to have water in it?
  20. Looks like Nirvanas to me. Whatever they are I’m interested if you frag it. Very cool.
