Hi All, We have a really fun meeting coming up. We'll be having the May meeting at my house in Corvallis. Send me a PM for my address and to RSVP. The meeting will be from 1-4 and Eli of Aquabiomics will be presenting on the aquarium microbiome at 230. We'll have food, drinks, and raffles! Follow this thread, as I will be posting more information about the raffles and the talk as we get closer to the meeting date. One of the raffles will be for corals from my tanks (see below). In the meantime, don't forget about the NEXT club meeting that will be held at the Tyree Coral Farmers Market on 11-4 on Sunday April 28th at the Airport Holiday Inn Hotel. Hope to see you there!13 points

Hello all. I'm a returning reefer after 10 years of being out of the hobby. My setup is a 75g Innovative Marine system (NUVO EXT) with sump and external 5g ATO. It has been up and running for about 6 months now and seems to be doing quite well. Other than me almost bleaching out my candy cane corals. I will start another thread of my journey to this point in case anyone has questions.7 points

Got a visit from @steveweast today and he brought me some Jake Adams corals. First one in the photos is the Montipora, Crystal Experiment. It's bright green with a very unique growth pattern. Second in the list is the Hardline Hoeksemai, which is light blue and looks like the Tyree Blue Matrix. Last, but not least is the Immortal Tort. Steve says this one gets really bright blue in high light and in lower light has the green base like you see with this frag. Beautiful corals and they were all personally collected by Jake Adams--Great conversation starters for my reef. Thanks again, Steve!2 points

Hello all, Mike here! I've been keeping aquariums and various reptiles my whole life! My career had me stop in my early 20's due to being on the road so much playing music. Little over a decade later, I decided to try saltwater for the first time! I picked up the 12/15g nano tank by coralfish12g on YT. I decided myself to also document my journey on youtube as well for all my tanks! All my videos are here! <- my YT channel. I picked up a pair of clownfish from upscales, and for a while they were doing great! Now it seems as though they are fighting a bit and no longer sleeping together. I picked up a hammer coral and a trumpet coral, and i have my hammer sitting on the top rock and my trumpet about 6 inches below. My trumpet doesn't seem to want to open. Not sure if its lighting or if i chose a poor spot for him where he may be getting hit with a little too much current. All water params are great and salinity is sitting a 1.025. Sorry for the blur in this photo as I do need to clean the outside of my tank ^.^ Just thought i'd say hello and what my experience is so far a couple months into my saltwater tank life! Cheers! - Happy Reefing! Mike2 points

I have a brand new 150 gallon rimless tank that has never been out of the box. Shortly after I got it I also learned that the house I was renting would be selling in the next couple years, so I held off. Now the house is selling and I won't have space for a 150 on top of the others tanks I have in my new place. I just have the aquarium, no stand or sump. Let me know if you have any questions.2 points

I know I wasn’t going to buy anything last year because my little Nuvo 20 was full and ended up spending like 400 dollars because there were things there that I had not seen for a long time! 😂1 point

I love All For Reef. I have a T, where ATO and A4R come out so it cleans the line whenever ATO kicks on. Works well. I think I’m at year 3ish on A4R. I dose about 50MLs on a 100 gallon. (About 8times a day)1 point

I am sooooo looking forward to this, as I look at the awesome gonis in my display that I picked up from last year's show. There was a lot of fantastic stuff last year. Many thanks to Kim ( @Emerald525) for organizing the PNWMAS booth. Let's make a good showing, PNWMASers! We want Steve Tyree to keep bringing this show to Portland every year. Last the year we had a better showing than the Seattle show, so let's keep this trend going. See you there! Andy1 point

I would like to rent the par meter again. It looks like I'm next on the list so I went ahead and paid the deposit. I can not pick up until Friday in 1 week, so if anyone wants it this week go for it. Let me know if I need to do anything else.1 point

USB is back at Cuttlefish & Corals. Worked great! Thanks for doing this - it's a real help.1 point

There’s a breeder in the Seattle area and interestingly the black and white clownfish from the same clutch of fish were the most aggressive. Unless the orange and white becomes more submissive you sometimes just need to remove one of the fish and try to pair it with a smaller clownfish. Rearranging the rock is worth a try .1 point

The tank has been stored in my garage which stays a fairly constant temperature year round.1 point

Glad to be back in the hobby. It would be interesting to see which clown pair you purchased. I picked up a pair (about 3-4 inches) from Upscales back in October 2023 and brought them back in January 2024. The larger black female was overly aggressive to my 4 new additions. So, I picked up a black ice clownfish that has been doing well with the rest of the tank. As for the candy cane, I had a similar problem with them getting too much light to the point they were almost gone. I placed them on the sand bed away from direct light and have been spot feeding them mysis shrimp. They seem to be coming back, but it will take time.1 point

Silicone holds up great to cold, and even is pretty resistant to the outdoors, you just have to watch out for temperature swings, as that can weaken the seal and is actually the thing compromising people's outdoor-stored tanks. Found a pretty good comment on reef2reef summing it up: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/storing-a-glass-tank-outside.105088/#post-11712031 point

Thanks. No weird issues. Here's a link to the stuff on Amazon: https://a.co/d/cb1kWWs Mix 20 grams into 500 ml to get your diluted solution. I am dosing 33 ml per day in my 198 gallon system. I started dosing 10 mls per day and gradually increased.1 point

Sweet! I'll be there helping the club spot, freshly back from a trip to Hawaii. Should be mellow and chill. For my skin complexion, a successful trip will be judged by no sunburn. SPF 50 Baby!1 point

Hey there! Returning reefkeeper here. Been out of the hobby for a bit due to life stuff but I'm back and hoping to hit the ground running. Jeff over at Cuttlefish got me hooked up with a new Red Sea system which is currently cycling but I'm super excited to fill the tank up with livestock and learn from all you veterans!1 point

Updated picture of the Nuvo 20 today. I know a few of you have gotten to see this in person when coming over to get coral or berghie’s but figured I’d share with the group. For those who say you cannot have an awesome mixed reef nano tank with tons of acros, I beg to differ. Tank is going on 6 years old and been through lots of different iteration of corals kept but going strong as a solid sps dominated mixed reef. I’m open for any questions people might have on the system but here are a few key points to the system and philosophy: 1. Keep nano tanks simple. The only mechanical filtration on this tank is using two chemi-pure blue nano packs. Just water, sand, rock, lights, flow, heater & cooling fan. No controllers, just using a simple wifi controlled power strip (6 wifi, 6 always on). Using ESV B-ionic for 2 part. Consistent water changes ever week to 2 weeks. 2. Patience is key. There’s a reason why those who hit 5+ years in the hobby say this over and over. This tank does not look like this over night. You measure tank success by 3 month, 6 month and yearly intervals. This shouldn’t be a week by week hobby. 3. (nano tank specific) Don’t have many fish. If you want a jam packed acro nano, you cannot have fish pooping all over the place and sky high nutrients. Nutrient control is the most challenging aspect of a nano in general. If you want acros in a nano, give up having many fish. Just 3 small fish in here: clown, Starcki damsel, small Mandarin Goby.1 point

Starting the tear down of my (3) tank system. Previous username on the forums was kilmca but for some reason I couldn't get logged back in. Haven't been active on the forums for a while due to busy work schedule and kids. First to go is one of the 54 gallon corner with no stand. Very good condition. Overflow, bulkheads light crate top, black background included. Kessil A360W + 24" Aquaticlife T5 hybrid fixture + (11) used and new bulbs. Both these fixtures have been in use for 5 years. Asking $150 for everything or make me an offer.0 points
