Hi All, So after two years away from this highly addicting hobby, due to a tank crash (only a neon green toadstool coral survived), I decided to come back strong . I was PNWMAS earlier, before change the website and then using FaceBook page for a while. I'm starting to build a 24 x 24 x14 shallow reef tank and think its the time to actively participate in events and in forum. I'll start a new tank build thread this week. Two years is too much to catchup with new tech items in Aquarium industry, new methods, experiences, and eye catching new corals. So I need all the help I can get (knowledge wise) to make this a success. I'm planning to come to PNWMAS meetings and meet awesome people. I would like to get this opportunity to Thank Frank Gruelle Jr for always encouraging me to stay with the hobby. Happy reefing

It's been a little over a decade since I last had a tank, but like most it crashed hard when I wasn't paying attention ([language filter] you school!). But now that I have time/money/space (pick 2) I thought it would be nice to see what is out there, and I happened to run into this forum while browsing for tanks in Portland. Long story short, nice to meet you all.

Check out this little guy I picked up from Jeff last week. He's such a cool fish. I've been wanting one for a long time.

Now why don't the high dollar polyps multiply that fast? Nice growing there Frank!

Thanks Kim. I probably spent 2 days setting it all up. Still a lot to do but I'm very proud of it. I'm just hoping whatever overflowed is a easy fix. I'll find out the damage in a couple hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Try a polyfilter if possible, they can remove heavy metals. Many of the local fish stores sell them. I know in Vancouver Ocean in a box carries them. Bummer, for sure, good luck....

It's been a while since I updated this thread. Have had some good and some bad since then... One of my clowns that I have had for nearly 8 years died and vanished while on holiday. Aquarium live stock remaining, single snowflake clown (need to find him a partner now), one kole tang, and cleanup crew along with a great leather and frogspawn. On a good note, I finished making my shaker style doors and they are now mounted. I only need to get them painted to finish the stand... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haven't updated in a while. He's still doing great. His color faded a lot, but he's recently been getting some darker red spots and lines. It'll be interesting to see what his color ends up like in the end.

Just glad to see it being put to good use. It's structurally sound and should serve you well. Im gonna have to snag a frag or two in the future from ya. I'd like to see the reef room

thanks! That picture is a little old, it has popped out 3 more polyps since I took that picture they seem to really like my system. I also fragged off a nice two polyp frag to place in the display as a back up colony too. They are so bright a colorful, easily one of my favorite polyps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sweet! I know nothing about it other than the typical 'they will be fishfood' answer. Good luck!

Mine are growing slow too, sensing an early failure in this comp! They sure are purdy though like you say. Pulled my yellow tang out this morning, I am 100% sure he is irritating zoas trying to get algae. Love that guy but don't mess with my zoas!

I can pull some of these for you. How about 20$ for 10 or so? I'm in Vancouver too. Let me know and I'll pull some and let them heal up.

Every other day usually. Overfeeding is dangerous for them, so you have to be careful. Little dummies will just keep eating even if they don't need to.

It's in my 40 gallon. There's a few peppermint shrimp and a bicolor blenny. This is the same species as the one Jason has, just a different color. His is close to full size, mine is only half that. The shrimp will be dinner at some point. I'm hoping the blenny is smart enough to stay away.

He just took his first frozen food! Apparently, they'll eat anything that moves if you wait until lights out when they have they're lure out. This is awesome news for me! I can sustain a much healthier long term diet for the fish this way. I'll be feeding mainly small pieces of frozen tilapia, plus some scallops and clams.
