Michael7979
Like the title says I'm looking for ways to get rid of some star polyps. The rock they are on can't come out unless I redo the tank, not going to happen. So if you know of a way to kill off star polyps please let me know. Thanks in advance. It should say "WAYS" to kill star polyps.
H20cooled
Maybe a kalk paste, super glue or epoxy.
Lowman
Hydnopora?
fly guy
Hydnopora? LOL...never thought of that one a epoxy that could be spread underwater and then stick could work but thats gonna be a whole lot more money and possibly a bigger mess than the kalk paste that SHOULD work. Ive used kalk paste on them before and it killed them .......but i was able to pull the rock out........ id try some kalk paste on a small piece and see if you can get away with using just enough not to mess your water up....... im having visions of you trying to kalk a few square feet of the stuff underwater........... impur
My frogspawn did a good job of keeping the GSP at bay, but its only a one sided approach. Can you reach in there with a razor blade and just peel it off?
Michael7979
I have about a 3-4" square inch area I want gone!!
impur
Dang, that might be tough. I'd try to cut as much out as i could, then superglue over the rest. That would be a lot of kalk in the tank.
Nyles
I my little experiences with them, I have peeled them off rocks, I currently have them growing in my tank, when people want frags I just peel them off and give them a hunk. I guess it depends on the texture of rock, I have mine growing on some semi-smooth rock to make it a little easier, usually have to harvest it about every 3-4 months to keep it under 8"
fly guy
Ive been toying with the idea of saving it and lining the edges of my walls with it......it might make for a cool border and be ok if you could keep it away from everything....... Nyles
The problem is it spreads so dang fast, its hard to keep it in check after it gets a firm hold in crevices and such.
fly guy
Im talking about on the walls of the tank.......dont let it get to any crevices.......all of my gsp is currently not allowed in either of my displays
impur
I will use some flat rock and bury them mostly into the sand. The rocks will be in the front of my reef, and i'll let the GSP grow over them so it keeps it easy to frag. I want it to look like a GSP lawn. Here is how i keep them at bay now, my candycane seemed to take offense to the GSP today That was the only stinger i saw come out, then lights went out. Its still stuck there. Nyles
Let me know who wins Miles, Im interested, I have the bright green candies from sean and they are about to have a duel with the same looking GSP.
impur
Didn't faze the GSP. The frogspawn on the other hand killed a nice sized patch, about the size of a silver dollar.
Nyles
Looks like I will be peeling off again and going in for a store credit.
WAVES
Bobs hydofora idea makes me wonder if that would work for aiptasia. Maybe you could just move it around to the locations of the aips and let nature take its course. I think Ill try it today, I have a couple monsters Ive been neglecting.
