Breefcase
Here's mine, I think it seems to be doing OK.
coralreefaquarist
i took these like a week or so ago its pretty similar to what it is right now.
mrgreenthumb
I'm amazed at how the color has changed on this acan. Seems to be doing really well for you guys. Did you frag it with a dremmel or a chisel? both? Good stuff
impur
Dremel. Went real smoothly. Even the small pieces of flesh made it thru ok and are forming new polyps.
mrgreenthumb
I'm just amazed as to how fast the acans heal up. Havn't tried fragging one yet i've always been too afraid! Expensive little pieces... How fast did you do the cutting? was heat a problem? did use saltwater to lubricate/wash away debris?
coralreefaquarist
ive done acans with the dremel at full speed. just cut a bit then dip them in some saltwater then so on and so on. that way debris gets cleaned off and keeps em cool. a screwdriver can come in handy to help break em loose. impur
Yah we did like Shawn said. Dremel at full speed and dunk in SW to rinse/cool. Tried to do as much of the cutting from underneath as possible.
downhill_biker
OK. I'll play. Here are my acan shots: Actinics only: NEW Phoenix 14k Bulbs MH only: see general discussion for thread on new bulbs
downhill_biker
miles: you may want to take yours and move it up a little. i just know that kevin's and mine are under halides and getting very dark, so maybe yours wants more light. that said, it is very plump and looks like any partial polyps completed themselves, and some feeding tentacles are out, so who knows. i am by no means an expert on acans, i think you fit that bill more than i do. yours is just looking a little bleached. the other thing is it may take more time to get the zooxanthellae back in it under the t5 lights....unfamiliar with those too. kevin: i already told you that the color on yours is great. i think the polyps will complete themselves soon. if they aren't dying then they most likely wont. they would have done that in the first few days. shawn: some stunning pics. i think you have some very healthy looking polyps. do you feed them? the look hungry... for that matter, who has been feeding? how often? still have to get pics from susanne, franklin, and joel
tidalsculpin
I will try to get my frag up tomorrow. Mine looks a lot like downhills. I did lose one polyp. I think my hermits pestered it too much for food I target fed to it. I have two new polyps that I could see already though. I will post tomorrow. siskiou
I wish mine looked like that! It's been doing okayish at first, but took a downward turn over the last few days and I'm not sure if it'll make it. No idea why. Parameters are fine and everything else looks good. I'm going to transfer it to the 120G with T5s, to see if it perks up over there.
impur
I am going leave mine in lower light. Its doing fine, inflated and extends feeders all the time. I'm not worried about it, but i really don't want to bleach it. Besides, i really have no where to move it to!!! (laugh)
