Kevinmc
What is the concern with copper used in tanks, or tanks with live rock? (scratch) What is the concern? (scratch) Can the rock be used ? (scratch) Can you do anything to change the effect that the copper has done to the tank or the live rock? (scratch)(scratch)(scratch) Thanks in advance Kevin (laugh)

Hard to get out of our systems. There are test kits available. Part of the reason caution should be taken with adding water to your tank(with new fish/corals). Alot of stores(unless you have good LFS's) will use copper for treating. There are products available, but, don't know about the results. I have been fortunate not having a copper problem. impur
Copper will adhear to rock and equipment then slowely leech out. It kills inverts and corals. If treating with copper be sure to use a copper test kit to maintain the correct dosage. At high concentrations it kills everything.
jptrson
Just out of curiosity, will it kill bacteria? I know a few people who have FOWLR tank and have a hard time keeping nitrates down. I know they're dirty fish, but if the copper reduces bacteria wouldn't that compound the problem?
impur
I can't say for certain if it kills bacteria. If it does, then yes that would compound the problem.
wegotjs
There is also 2 kinds of copper chelated and non.I have found that certain test kit's don't work with both.
impur
Yes good point. The Aquarium Pharmaceuticals copper test kit does both.
