bigfish
So I purchased a typhoon 3 from air water ice and got it all setup. It works great but I cannot get it to stop leaking from the faucet adapter. It screws on fine but shoots water all over the place. I used the gasket they provided and tried plumbers tape but I can’t figure it out. Any suggestions? Oregonic
Rubber seal looks ok, you could double the seal up or wrap the threads with some teflon tape.
Micah
Well, plumbers tape isn't a sealant, it just helps seat the threads. If it's leaking, it's likely because the washer inside the adapter isn't seating properly or isn't thick enough. Sometimes you can double up the washer for threads that aren't long enough to compress the existing washer.. that's where id start.
Oregonic
Oops see you tried teflon tape already. Did you wrap it the correct direction? If so I would try doubling the gasket. You can most likely rob the one off the aerator and see if it solves the issue.
Micah
If nothing else works, the adapters from BRS are pretty sweet. I've used them before and they give you a real water source from under the sink.
bigfish
If I use both washers they gave me there isn’t enough space to screw it onto the faucet.
Micah
Can you crank it down with a pipe wrench or something?

You may even want to possibly take a little sand paper and lightly sand the bottom edge of the faucet to ensure there are no burrs pushing unevenly against the seal. bigfish
I’ll try the pipe wrench. Should I try make it as tight as I can?
Oregonic
I would tighten it down and if still leaking try tightening a little more. Use discretion, if you go to tight you could strip the threads or worse break the faucet. Very easy to over tighten with a wrench. I would also remove all the teflon tape first and re wrap it before you try again. Make sure you wrap the correct direction so it doesn’t ball up as you tighten it. xxkenny90xx
Be very careful tightening that with a wrench! I have cracked that exact adapter before....
GreenJeans
I would also give the end of the faucet a quick sanding to remove any burrs affecting the seal. Be careful with the wrench! And use plenty of tape, more than it looks like you did
parvo99
Hard to tell, but something doesn’t look right on the upper right side of the picture under the rubber washer.

Yeah, now I want to see a pic of it with the washer removed. I still think doing an inline source valve is a better idea and only costs like... 10 bucks
bigfish
I actually got it to work. I used a second washer above the other threaded fitting that screws into my faucet and then attached the fitting you guys are talking about.
bigfish
I added a large washer up there and that seemed to solve the issue.
Micah
No, I demand you take it all apart and show me a picture of it without the washers! j/k, glad you got it working!

That way you don’t have the ro/di line constantly hanging off your faucet.
bigfish
I store it in the closet and just take it out when needed. I only do 5g water changes.
