Project Lagoon Starting!!!

Recommended Posts

Starting my project to replace my 30 gallon today. This tank is an acrylic 48" x 24" x 12" built out of 3/4" acrylic with an internal overflow (thanks Jeff @ C&C). My plan is to create a shallow lagoon type reef. Let's see how she goes.f8ab97568d2c193d6d7ba14eebf6459d.jpg

Good luck!  Randall (PowderBlue) had an awesome 60 gallon SPS heavy lagoon setup a few years ago that was one of my favorite tanks.  I think it was a bit deeper but similar dimensions.  Might check out his old tank thread for inspiration.

Finished for the night...after fixing a leak in the drain, I think it is safe to leave it for the night....still need to refinish and add trim to the stand and add some more Rock and mangroves but getting there. 9am to 1030pm.027adefc92cc44b480f296b6d6f54bbb.jpg

Im seeing a lot of mangroves in this style tank is it essential or more preference? Just curious. It looks amazing btw, 13 hours of work you can be proud of :).

I think it is more just preference. I want to put some nice tall mangroves in the back of mine as well.

Just thought I would post an update. I finally moved into the "modern era" of reefing and set up a Tunze ATO, Apex EL and Apex Dos system. Tank is really starting to come along.690892e360a54f5a22a50c865305af41.jpg

You will love this tank! The lagoon I had was my favorite tank I’ve had. And I’ve had a lot lol.
