Popular aquarium myths dispelled

I thought it might be fun to create a list of popular aquarium myths that have since been debugged. So I will start

"Once GFO is exhausted it starts to leach phosphorous back into the system"

False, phosphorous binds to GFO due to ionic charges, once bound, it won't "let go" unless acted upon by another charge.

Myth: Oh dont worry you can set up a budget tank.
Reality: Take the money you plan on spending and burn it for fun. Then take what you planed on spending double it, add another 50% and you may be ready to add corals.

The watts per gallon rule,

The zero nitrates zero phosphates rule (sterile tank),

One one inch Fish per gallon (maybe geared more towards freshwater),

One pound live rock per gallon

Not possible to keep mixed reefs longer term, I heard this one often first starting out with saltwater a few years back it seems pretty silly now. May be tougher but not impossible
