Looks like a Deceptive Sallow Moth.  See https://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Feralia-deceptiva

You were so on point with that find.

Up here in Washington, over the years I have seen a few of the Sphingidaes. Brought them to show-and-tell as a kid.

Moths are cool.

Just to keep the Silence of the Lambs theme going, I spotted this one on my window today.  My macro lens isn't just for corals you know!

Not as colorful as the Deceptive Sallow Moth above, but pretty hairy:

(and I need to clean my window screens)

This guy is currently hanging out on my front porch... He has some wicked feathery horns! Over all I would say 3-4 inches long 2.5-3 inches tall...4ddc542023e8b9f6f146981cc5a003aa.jpgc5710fb430b0913185b926beea98dd13.jpg

That’s one of the things I like about many moth photos...it’s easy to gauge the relative size of the moth when they’re on window screens since most screens have a standard mesh size.  My moth above spanned about 10 squares, but yours covered at least 50 squares.  That’s a chunky moth!
