CrabbyCrabs
Is this a small amphipod or a cursed isopod, I'm having a hard time identifying it. The best pics I seem to be able to get with my phone and loupe. It does seem to swim sideways. It's in a small shallow dish with a tiny bit of water. milesmiles902
In my experience, I've never had issues with organisms similar to this size that are aquatic swimmers. Unless, it was this: http://www.realmonstrosities.com/2010/07/giant-isopod.html Do you have problems with the aquarium?
SuncrestReef
If you save the specimen, I'd be happy to photograph it under my microscope for you.
CrabbyCrabs
I do have it still. Just can't get a great pic with this Moto z2 play, my old Droid Maxx did way better pics with less megapixels through the loupe. I think it's a 20x loupe. It was maybe 1/8" long. Most amphipod I've seen were much larger and my possum wrasse gobbled them up. Edited January 8, 2019 by CrabbyCrabs
maxicurls
I’ve got at least 2 species of isopod creeping around. I think many isopods are just scavengers or detrivores. The ones I’ve seen in my tank are pretty slow-moving. Those parasitic ones that eat the fish’s tongue so they can live in the fish’s mouth though... nightmarish. Did you see that movie, The Bay, I think it’s called? 😬😱 1

CrabbyCrabs
Any clue if they are just young amphipods? I have not see adult amphipods for a long time in this tank.
