Calcium Reactor Output

Recommended Posts

Propably a dumb question. My reactor effluent output goes into my filter socks. Am I losing any calcium / Alkalinity with this configuration?

I wouldn’t think so only because I don’t think you lose any from your display to the filter socks, I could be wrong but I wouldn’t think the filter would be fine enough to pull out CA or ALK. Following to see what others think.

I don't have any sources or science, but my knee jerk reaction would be no. The only thing I could consider, and it's one heck of a long shot, would be if for some reason your effluent off gasses the CO2 as it tumbles in the sock, thereby raising the pH and precipitating the calcium and alkalinity. Tbh, even writing that out sounds ridiculous. I'd say if the reactor is keeping your levels in check, I wouldn't give it another thought.
