lewisriverfisherman
My new power strip came today. I like the individual switches! I was waiting for this so I can hook up my GFCI. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Bicyclebill
These are awesome, and I highly recommend over the dj power strip. No bigger than a normal power strip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TheClark
That really is cool, and much smaller than a DJ powerstrip as @Bicyclebill points out. Thanks for sharing. One thing you can do is run a GFCI per outlet. It's allot more $$, but a single trip while you are on vacation means one piece of equipment out, not 7. Just something to consider.

That is a good point. You got a good source on GFCI 's?
TheClark
Ha, I wish! Home depot has been good to me. I use the yellow ones like your post for my son's tank and Christmas lights. Same concept works great for Christmas lights in our wet climate
bladedrummer
I had no idea these were a thing and I was going to order one of the DJ ones as I had in my old tank. Ordering one of these instead!

Sent from my man cave while drinking Coors light! Basically plug the GFCIs in after the power strip, not before. Each outlet on the power strip gets a yellow portable GFCI like brandon's picture above. This ups the cost signficantly (10-12 per outlet) but it ups the reliability significantly as well. So outlet->power strip->power strip outlet ->gfci->reef equipment

I take it, HD would have them? Any idea on cost per unit? Also, I have a DJ strip already hooked up, can I just plug these into the DJ strip? Sent from my man cave while drinking Coors light! TheClark
Yes, HD has them, 12 bucks. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant-Plug-In-GFCI-Adapter-3-Wire-Grounding-30339036/203741464 The most important thing is to get one that resets after a power outage automatically. These ones do. The test is simple, unplug it, then plug it back in. If you have to hit the reset to get power, take it back. It should automatically be powered.

Trailermann
Yes, very helpful. I'll be adding those yellow things to my set up. However, I plan to stick with the DJ because of the clean look.
Optimusprime3605
Are there power strips with individual gfci's per outlet and on/off switch? Probably gonna be pricey but probably cheaper than buying individual gfci's and a strip. Idk.... Sent from my man cave while drinking Coors light! lewisriverfisherman
From a little looking all I see is an GFCI built into the power strip. But that doesn't mean there not made somewhere.
