I’m a civil engineer that specializes in water and wastewater. The bulk of my time is spent engineering water and wastewater treatment plants and distribution/collection systems for <10,000 population cities throughout the state of Oregon. I also do master planning and funding assistance for the same projects that I design.

Oh lord the things I could post

Have worked a plant or two over the years doing metal work.............

This is a fun thread!  I love to see what others do in their day jobs.  I was a trial lawyer for a number of years before being appointed as a judge for the State of Oregon in 2003.  I only hear workers' compensation cases, so if you get a speeding ticket I can't help you.  If you fall off a ladder at work, I'm your man.

Makes me wonder if we should start a new “Judge Holly” section here on the board where you could handle a new reef-related dispute every week. For entertainment purposes only of course!

I manage an auto body shop that handles the collision repair side of things not restorations or custom projects. I basically babysit a bunch of adults and make sure they meet deadlines while maintaining quality. I also fight with insurance adjusters to ensure they pay for everything it takes to properly repair cars to pre-loss condition. Don’t listen to the big guy in town who spends tons of money on commercials to make it sound like he is the only shop who properly repairs vehicles, most reputable shops properly repair vehicles. In fact if you want a good laugh look up the reviews of his shop and see how satisfied people are who buy into the commercials.

Funny you mention this, I have heard the same about this heavily advertised shop.

Well I did see a truck with a [language filter] L***S on it  does that count..............

Thats great, I would have loved to see that.  His history is actually pretty interesting and very well hidden. He is the only body shop that I have ever heard of that hires a full time attorney

You are right.  I wish someone would shut this guy down, or at least shut him up.

I don’t dare say what I do. I know I am the minority and people don’t normally care for people in my profession until they need us.i get to drive fast, give advice, play with cool toys and occasionally get to mix it up if you know what I mean!!!’
I know what you mean and I myself am thankful for people in your line of work!

I'm an RN by education and experience.  I now work as an IT Clinical Analyst supporting the Epic Electronic Medical record for a busy emergency department here in Renton.  I take the base version that the company (Epic) provides and modify things to better suit the needs of our providers.  If you have been in a hospital, Urgent Care or Clinic in Oregon or Washington, you probably have a medical record in Epic.

I’m am a precast concrete project consultant with a focus on railway and bridge structures. If you need a bridge I can help you out. Otherwise I’m probably of not much use. I can share my random mistakes that I’ve made over the years reefing with hopes that they are not repeated by others.......

I know Epic well. Sadly we are so dependent on it people don’t know what to do when it goes down. 🙄 As I think about it , it kinda reminds me of what happens when the forum is down 🤔 and I get frantic phone calls!

@River City Corals Brian I know you have a stressful and often thankless job and it is so appreciated. While I personally have had some very negative experiences (remind me to tell you about how the Portland police came looking for me over a water bottle that they thought I stole at Woodburn mall 🙄  —true story ) I know just like in all things there are good and bad apples and it’s always best to judge the person and not the group. You’re a good guy in my book 🤗 besides you work with canines which is cool!

Ah yes... the all pervasive Epic.  Thankfully, we don't have to deal with it in the research world but it certainly controls pretty much everything happening on the clinical side of the operation.  Money to be made in IT support for that platform to be sure.

I am a retired high school band director.  I still play music for fun about four to five nights a week.  The groups I play with include two full symphony orchestras as well as

two big bands.  I have been a koi enthusiast for 25 years and into saltwater tanks more recently.    If you need advice on who to take music lessons from give me a holler!

One of my biggest regrets was not learning to play an instrument. Music is a huge part of life for me it's like medicine!

I'm a really good listener. I'm great at listening to people talk about things they're great at!

I'm listening..

You’re being humble my friend.  I have seen those pictures of you fighting to defend our country. That takes a special kind of courage and sacrifice.

You are also just an all around good friend and the first one there night or day if anything goes wrong with your tank!

We are lucky to have you here Jorge.

I love this thread so much!  Cool to see all the peeps I can harass in the future to help me.  I'm basically a glorified receptionist.  I worked for years as a medical transcriptionist and a medical payable specialist, front office medical assistant, office manager, marketing specialist, etc.  Now I run a cleaning company franchise in our area and assist in a fish store.  I adore trading skills and would love to with any saltwater people!  Need your house cleaned?  I need some fishstore cabinets built!  :-)
