December 2017 Holiday Meeting Pics

Recommended Posts

Another annual PNWMAS December holiday meeting success!

This meeting we went with a change in venues and the decision to have it held at the Kennedy School was a good one. We rented out a class room for the club and provided some food and drinks, all which was staffed by the onsite restaurant. Very convenient.

SAM_4174.JPG

There were some interesting pizza choices here. There was the classic pepperoni as well as a zucchini broccoli pesto. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

SAM_4298.JPG

So many faces and so little  time, you would think that 3 hours would be enough but it was not. after all the raffles, white elephant gift exchange, frag swap, food & drink, there was just enough time exchange words with a few people. If I didn't get to converse with you or snap a photo I apologize, there will be a next time I assure you that. That being said, here are some shots of some mighty fine folks...

SAM_4151.JPG

Our club treasurer and zoa collector Mr.Bret. He keeps our accounts in line and assists with obtaining and holding PNWMAS raffle prizes. Thank You Sir!...He is also the main man at Paradise Corals of Hillsboro, a collection of fine corals, fine art, and fine fishes..and lets not forget about the jellyfish and seahorses.SAM_4156.JPG

Stylaster made it down from Washington and glad he did, he always brings some interesting conversation to the table. Another sponsor who has been apart of the PNWMAS for some time, Roy runs Pacific Corals in Long View Washington and brings in some island fire. Hope those little baby chalices work out for you, they are Sloooow growing, but beauties. And as you know, there will be more my friend.

SAM_4378ddf.jpg

Glittering like priceless gems is FancyFins. Another valuable member of our Board Of Directors. You may have seen her and Albertareef doing an outstanding job on announcements and raffles, not to mention their valuable input behind the scenes. Thank You Cherany.

SAM_4147.JPG

Reefer madness playing with the PAR meter before it goes off to another set of hands. I got some montiporas you need to snag next time you run through Corvallis my friend. Make sure that urchin and cowrie stay in the sump though. Once the lights go out they will head towards your new frags like a heat seeking missile.

SAM_4211.JPG

Danlu here, this guy is one innovative reefer. He has made a few designs to improve his reefing game and has been employing his 3D printer in his aquatics related business Reefi Labs. He makes some very impressive, efficient, and powerful LED lighting that I know grows some very colorful corals. I hope all those acros work out for you, if they don't I will get you some more...If they do, I will get you some more.

SAM_4291.JPG

NRC enjoying the holiday cheer, there was certainly a festive cheer in the air making many people all around jolly. I wish I got to have some words with you but I made the mistake of divvying my time poorly. There will be another meeting next month so maybe I will se you then. Cheers my friend.

SAM_4306.JPG

SASQUATCH FOUND! Derek used to be a zoanthid hoarder but has since moved into the realm of gorgonians. If you ever get back into the colonial polyp coral game get ahold of me first, and I will give you many of them back. And don't be afraid to drop me a line if you head south through Corvallis yeah.

SAM_4259.JPG

Biochemrobyn, Congratulations!! And good luck with the move to Texas, it will be quite a change thats for sure. Hopefully you can find a reefer group as cool as ours here in the Pacific North West...Either way don't hesitate to drop in here once in a while and say whats up, most of us are not going anywhere soon.

SAM_4202.JPG

Gumby, on the left, also made a long trip from Washington to attend the get together. Very cool guy! He has helped us with the boys and girls club events we have held and he does some aquarium work for tanks for teachers in the Vancouver Washington area...Not to mention he has a vast coral collection that would have many of us in envy...Much like Gill&Fin to the right here. She has some of the most beautiful systems around, so neat and tidy. She does great work for our PNWMAS club here behind the scenes acting as an important member of the Board of Directors. Thank You Holly, Thank You Jim.

SAM_4288.JPG

On the far left we have Grassi, and on the far right we have Reefrun. I didn't get the chance to meet their son but I imagine we will cross paths again at a future meeting. Both very kind people who have a knack for reefing. If I had brought more cash I would have bought one of those corals you had but I spent my cash on food and raffle tickets. I need to get my priorities straight again.

SAM_4404.JPG

Youcalmenny and his family center of the picture. If I am not mistaken he just got done making a move into a house. This probably means some upgrading at some point yeah. I wanted to talk some with you about that but you know how that goes. I am sorry I didn't get back at you after you threw me that chalice but I will most certainly get you back when your ready for a frag or two...Just give me the word.

SAM_4410.JPG

Kai and his family also made it out to our little shindig. As far as the corals we were talking about Kai, you may need to dip them every few days for a couple weeks or get a wrasse who is hungry for small crustaceans and other inverts. Sometimes even beneficial copopods can bloom to such populations that they actually irritate the polyps themselves causing the retraction and irritation. Throw up a thread if you have any more questions yeah. nd good seeing you man.

SAM_4316.JPG

FishoutofWater, another member who has been around for a little while. Here he is getting in on some of that raffle action we all love so much.Which to choose, which to choose? Ad as usual, there is no wrong choice, it's ALL good.

SAM_4312.JPG

Kknight far right and her husband sitting at the cool kids table, as usual. Karen is our Head of the Tanks for Teachers and leads the way for several participants in the program.  Without her help there would be alot less marine activity in those kids classrooms. Thanks Karen. OH! And I barely missed that Fireball on the table, by a smidgen. Things were starting to get hot in here, a white elephant gift no doubt. It's Christmas early my friends.

SAM_4302hy.jpg

From left to right people waiting for their number to be called it's Rick, Reefer Madness, his wife , JFry, and HigherThinking. There was so much loot in the raffles and so many participants in the gift exchange it wouldn't surprise me if almost everyone's number was called at some point...Okay, not everyone's, and not Andrew's, he isn't feeling that lucky streak. Just Joshin you Andrew. say hi to Lauren for us.

SAM_4414.JPG

Or maybe it just has to do with that gift exchange?...Like DejaVu, this singing is ringing in my ears. Don't worry, this is one Bieber you would let near your mouth...Maybe? Spectra didn't make a showing so it had to go home with someone, hope he is alright with that.

SAM_4273.JPG

Kelly Limpet on the left and OptimusPrime on the right.Dodge has some pretty nice zoas just growing awayin his tanks. If that Shazam doesn't work out for you let me know and I iwll get you another one. They are finicky at first but once they get growing it is pretty productive. Kelly here had the most amazing shirt I had seen all day, well next to Cherany's. He has a custom PNWMAS shirt that had me envious as soon as I saw it. I just love the back, so I took a picture.

SAM_4365.JPG

Funny  thing is, as I read this I heard it at the same time in Don knotts's voice...Does that mean I am old or just well versed?

SAM_4195.JPG

This picture came out Amazingly good, like it needs some Christmas reef around the edges and a bow. Just look at  . Emerald, CuttlefishndCorals, Kknight, and Sirena all in on the group hug. Kim is ourr fearles president who helps keep the ball rolling here at PNWMAS, we appreciate your hard work Kim.  Then Jeff in the center is a helluva team player here at PNWMAS, providing massive discounts for or Tanks For Teachers program along with finding us the best raffle prizes he can when we ask. He also happens to be one of our fine sponsors running the amazing Cuttlefish and Corals found in Portland Oregon. If your around the area you need to stop in his shop, there is a little bit of everything, you are sure to find something you want and need there. Karen as you know is our Tanks For Teachers leader and has served on the Board of Directors for quite a while now, thanks again Karen. Bottom we have the first lady, Sirena. She has done an astounding job contributing in all sorts of our PNWMAS affairs when she can. From planning and cooking to setup and logistics. We all are greatfull for those hours you put in to our club that go without being seen. Your Awesome!

Some of these next pictures are from when we handed out the quizzes...That's right, we made reef quizzes for all the attendees and we even had prizes for the top scores. We had three categories containing what we Thought were appropriate questions for the three different difficulty levels, novice, intermediate, and advanced. If you see someone in one of these pictures Teed off, it is probably my fault.

SAM_4257.JPG

Trailerman isn't afraid here, he has his thinking cap on and is doing just fine. There is alot to learn in this hobby and each category had some easy questions and some rather difficult ones. Even the beginner test had a couple ones that made you think. Super Fun!

SAM_4251.JPG

Left is Sharklover and next to him is Ken. Both are getting busy on the quiz. These two are pretty trustowrthy guys. I don't have t worry about them using the cell phone or sharing answers. Let us know when you got your setups running and then maybe we can trade some frags.

SAM_4239.JPG

I Also love this picture. They are clearly frustrated with yours truly. Who Writes this Stuff!? Far left is Paratore. He runs West Coast Corals, in Monmouth Oregon, and does a great job. He has some high end pieces for sure, better grab those sunglasses if your going to see those anemones and corals. Middle is R-3. As I have said a few times already, let me know when you want a couple corals for your newe setup and I will grab you something nice. Maybe some time I can come by and check things out. I love seeing other setups. Same goes for you Exodus, on the right. That is, if your still down. I got some frags for your new setup anyhow.

SAM_4162.JPG

Higher Thinking, Emerald, and Sirena laughing it up. These people all have some very good energy to them. Just enjoying themselves at another PNWMAS event.

SAM_4359.JPG

Almost as much as this guy. Sharklover takes home the Gold...Apex that is. When I spoke with him it sounded like it is going to some good use. Congratulations.

SAM_4349.JPG

Rick snagged the Vortech! OH, I think I actually wanted that one. As long as it is going to be used to grow coral I am happy I suppose. But really, congratulations as well.

SAM_4333.JPG

Whoa, its the rare and elusive Badxgillen , looks like I am getting that winter coat for hibernation. Raffle wise I actually snagged myself a gift card for the Salem Oregon Premium Aquarium. Yet another amazing store full of goodness. Talk about a good excuse to go to Salem! Who want to roll with!?

SAM_4355.JPG

And speaking of laughter, look at these three! I don't know whats making them laugh but I know that they crack me up. What a team we all make, its always a good time with the right chemistry of people. you probably know the people to right and to the left but in the middle we have Albertareef, a great asset to our club who rightfully sits on our PNWMAS Board Of Directors. Thank You Shaun.

Well folks, thats about it for my brief recollections.

I do want to make my usual thanks to all the office members, the Board Of Directors, the Sponsors, and all the PNWMAS crew that make all this possible. Most of you know it but some of you don't, and some just need a reminder, I Love you ALL. Much appreciated..Until next time...

I hope you all enjoyed the party.

It was so fun seeing everyone! And yes, I do love playing Price Is Right model with those raffle items, can't deny it!

I'll toss another picture into the mix. This is Zoolander, myself, and Albertareef, clearly all quite pleased with the shindig! Maybe it was my big lotto win that had me so excited! (For those not there, I scored lottery tickets in the white elephant exchange. Thought I won $5, but I actually won $9! I will soon forget all your names now that I'm a bigshot lotto winner!)

Big thanks to Bert for always taking pics at the meetings! Your posts are great even for those of us who were there, because it helps put names to faces after we're home and realize we forgot to catch names while chatting with people.

Congratulations to Roy & Jim for being the top scoring members of Bert's super advanced trivia quiz! Those guys both scored 80%, if I recall correctly. Couple of smarty pants in the house! :applause:

Awesome pics as always Bert!  I know I’ve said it before but bears repeating... your recaps are always one of my favorite things about the meetings. Somehow you manage to catch all the action and still add great tidbits and details that bring it all to life - even for those of us who were there. As Cherany mentioned, it’s also a great way to put faces to names and get to know the club members better.

Thanks again for all your work with these write ups and everything else you do for the club. Maybe next year I will be brave enough to tackle the reef trivia quiz (beginner level of course).

P.S. Sorry @spectra I tried to snag that Bieber toothbrush for you but someone beat me to it 😞

Glad you and the family made it up. Sorry we didn’t have more time to talk about the new build - raffle tickets were too popular!  Nice that you got to enjoy the venue a bit outside the meeting - definitely one of their more whimsical locations.

Bert as always excellent job on the pictures and narration... You are truly one of the greatest assets to this club and judging from those RIDICULOUS advanced questions  (this was my actual face taking those questions) you are also a wealth of knowledge

Thanks Holly , Flashy (who lived up to her name at the event) and Bert for coming up with the quiz questions

Thanks Sean and Flashy for running the raffle

Thanks again MrBret for getting us the good deals on the raffle items and really having a lot to do with the idea of getting some of these high dollar raffle items!

Thanks Sean for finding the venue for the part. Kennedy school is awesome and I received lots of comments of how fancy and nice it was! Would love to have another event here.

Oh and I think I was laughing so hard when Cherany said that all the winners of the brain quiz should meet her in the corner for a prize....:joking:

It was a great time! Thanks everyone for coming!

Sorry I missed you at the meeting.  If you still want a Idaho Grape Monti, I'll save you a frag for next meeting.

As mentioned in the September meeting thread the meet and greet at Moloko's would make an opportune place/time to have a frag swap so lets get one started here. These are the general guidelines I like to recommend for these coral exchanges.
If you would like, you can do your trading on the fly by just bringing by a few pieces and hoping that some one will have a desirable coral you want...Or better yet, you can post up what you have to trade and work out a preemptive exchange here on the forums, that method always works best for me. You can feel free to use this thread to post your trade-ables in or start a thread of your own.
But First, let me get you some of Bert's basis tips for success here.
1.) make an attempt to have a fragment of reasonable size and health and try and get things cut and ready a few days to a week ahead of time to have the wounds healed up for the exchange. And double/triple check for pest invertebrates or algaes before sending your corals out, we try to keep invasives to a minimum here...And once you get your frags home, just in case, always acclimate the specimens then dip the corals before you put them into your personal aquarium. QT Aquariums are best but good old Revive, Coral RX, Melafix, Iodine, or Bayer will do much better at prevention than nothing.
2.) Try to package your corals appropriately. This can mean not putting a spiny coral like birds nest into a thin dollar store bag or not utilizing insulation on an extended cold or warm trip. Try a small cooler or Styrofoam. If you can't find either of these and the destination is a long distance, keep the vehicle air conditioned or heated appropriately. As far as packaging goes you can double bag and use thicker mil plastics, or something else like a Tupperware or specimen container. I have even used washed out yogurt or cottage cheese containers that stack well inside the coolers. Just use something that will work, nothing like losing a nice and colorful animal because the bag got too cold and leaked all the water out on the way home.
3.)Do your best to be courteous and fair to one another by not take advantage of each others ignorance or generosity. These are people of all levels in the hobby so give them the benefit of your knowledge and experience instead of the cold shoulder. And speaking of generosity, that giving nature has always been smiled upon here at PNWMAS and pay it forward tends comes back around these parts.
Well, the meeting is closing in fast, less than two weeks yeah. I believe Christian who runs the place will also be interested in doing some trades as well, I imagine he will post up in the forum here soon.
So Let's see em folks,  Whatcha Got!? Corals that is!
    • By badxgillen
What do we have for September gatherings you ask? Well, it has been a while since we made it up to North Mississippi  to visit our friends at Moloko's so we decided to have a casual meet and greet at this sponsors awesome reef themed pub. If you have not been there you are missing out on a very unique establishment. This will be a perfect mingling opportunity prior to next months upcoming big Frag Fest event. We can chill out, relax, and talk salt or just get to know each other more... A far cry from the hustle and bustle of the Expos.
Being a meet and greet situation I think it would make sense to get a frag swap going on, I know many of us have some corals to trim and being two weeks away it makes for an ideal heal time on any of those fresh cuts. And since the shindig doesn't start until 4 it will give us a chance to shop at some of the Portland area saltwater stores prior, so bring a small cooler.
The address is-- 3967 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97227
Starts at 4:00PM until 6:00PM or whenever you want to go home on Saturday the 29th, they have a full service bar as well as some nice panini sandwiches amongst other edibles to choose from.

May 2018 meet was another over the top meeting for the PNWMAS. For those who could not make it you missed out on a great event.
Rudy at The Golden Basket hosted the May gathering and did Great, his family works together seamlessly and handled the clubs needs without a hitch. And Kim, Siirena, Scott, and Saun did an amazing job of coordinating, cooking, and setting up all of this. Wonderful people right here!

Kim an Sirena in this pic getting all the kinks worked out before anyone even got there, this is an amazing couple right here. Emerald is ready with tickets for raffles in hand and in the background Sirena is making sure the margarita machine is ready to go...

And Yes, You heard that right, margarita MACHINE! One side was for the virgin blue raspberry slushy mix and the left was for the real deal margarita with tequila. This is the first "meeting" I have been to that had a margarita machine to dispense beverages.

Chef Scott helped Sirena by making a few things at home and maning the grill like he does so well. That marinated skirt steak was tasty stuff, never would have guessed there was soy sauce involved.

Albertareebt  in and setup a whole sound system for music along with a mini amp for the speakers and raffles. As you all know Saun is a stand up guy, always willing to pitch in here and there.

I had to include as much vertical as I could on a couple pictures here, not only to show off our OSU Beavers tent, but to take notice of the amazingly beautiful clear and sunny day we had. Several people had enough forethought to bring camping chairs to sit down outside and enjoy the sunny weather.

Like Lewisfisherman here, polarized shades are not a bad idea today...You might still need them once you go inside and see some of the amazing corals. I know you found a few bright gems in Rudy's shop.

Mark and Exodus having a conversation right before things got started, there were several early birds who were more than willing to be of assistance where needed like these two. Both are seasoned veterans in the salt water hobby.

Eclipse on a sunny day!? Good to see you, glad you found a little time to come out and hang with the PNWMAS crew.

As usual, once inside you see Rudy and his team just working away, move em in and move em out. These guys are either taking pictures or bagging corals, not a bad gig if you ask me.

Pantherguy, stopping in for a little bit. This guy has some insanely colored corals if you ever get a chance to snag a frag from him I highly recommend it.

BAAHHH!!! Its OptimusPrime rolling in with the cooler in hand, full of goodies no doubt. Sounds like you might need to setup an anemone containment tank, I have that other bubble tip for you next time we meet up.

Maxicurls here is a guy I haven't seen for a while, maybe we should make one of those impromptu Molokos meets and see whats in the reef tanks by the bar, while eating my panini.

PDXMnkey aand Albertareef talking about financial changes in the market and effects on consumers, alot has changed in the last few years that's for sure, I think it is great when things become more available and affordable. Win win for a guy like me.

Did someone call for, the Zorro!? Whenever there is a reefer in trouble he is there, and whenever there is a must have high end Acro, he will have it. No trouble here, except trying to pick only ONE must have high end acros at Rudy's...I went with the Olympic Torch but really there is no wrong choice.

Tesch here for another round of PNWMS meeting fun! We are one big coral reef family here at our Marine Aquarium Society with everyone on the same page of reefing. Hit me up sometimes if you want to do some trading man, I always have something that needs a trim.

Youcallmenny conversing with PDXreefer front left, in the back ground we have Albertareef laughing on the left, FlashyFins and Princeton talking with the Sasquatch center background, and Ken on the right.

Sharklover and DarkAngel didn't miss out on the festivities, so many cool corals and cool people this was certainly the happening place to be this last Saturday.

Was nice to meet a couple folks I had not seen before. Thanks Saltedwaffles for the zoa frags, hope the chalice works out for you, just let me know if it gives you any trouble and I will see what I can do.

Jeremevans and his future reef enthusiast.  hope you two are ready for a talk, because the PNWMAS Board chose a few members to act as a panel to answer some SPS focused questions.

We missed you Roy, but Rudy and I tried to manage without you, we covered a lot of ground in a short time so I hope some of the audience was able to use at least some of the information spoken. For those of you who missed it Roy answered a few questions right here.  http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/topic/43136-what-sps-questions-do-you-have/?page=2

We even had Danlu speak about lighting wavelengths and LED diodes which can shed some "Light" on aspects of coral colors and growth. Recurrent flicker of %100 strength diodes to solve wavelength issues seems totally sound. If you want to talk about lights this guy knows a thing or two for sure.
After the presentation was done we moved onto the next event...The Raffles!
      Get Your Tickets!!!

Just look at all these prizes! I don't know how we pull together so much good stuff for these raffles but alot of it has to do with our amazing group of officers and our generous sponsors, Thanks You Guys and Gals!

Patiently waiting with tickets for the ensuing raffle. Back left R-3, front right ReefRun, and behind right we have Walt.

Damien taking home one of the LED units, Whoop Whoop!!! Solid units right there man, nice score.

FlashyFins taking home the Upscalees Certificate here. Show me the Money!

Spectra coming in for the win! This guy most certainly deserves it, he has always been very generous as well as being a helpful hand when he can, Scotts a good man.

Lora and SRoberts took home not only the other LED unit but also a pass to the upcoming MACNA event. Talk about a lucky day!

At the end of it all we had all the helping hands we needed to take it down and wrap it up, you could call this team work or comradery , either way I love this crew.

Sirena and Kim loading the truck to the brim Ike they have done this before, these two are real troopers, excellent job ladies, excellent job.
So that was our Awesome May 2018 meeting. Another one for the records, a most outstanding meet if I do say so myself. The feeling of community was really there, the laughing, the trading, the conversing, and all round good times.
Thank You GoldenBasket, Thank You Emerald, Thank You Sirena, Thank You Spectra, Thank You Albertareef. you ALL made this one special and one to remember. And thanks to our PNWMS Crew, you make this forum go round, keep it real y'all...See you next month at the MHSC yeah!
      Reef On!!!

    • By badxgillen
We bring you another public PNWMAS announcement, the Annual summer MHSC visit is almost upon us and the day is set for this informative upcoming meeting. Last year the weather was wonderful making the trip to the Newport Coast fabulous for before and after visits up and down our west coast! Sid is doing his best to make sure we have access to their personal break area which includes an indoor and outdoor alcove with benches, picnic area, and a grill spot sporting a Weber BBQ. I recommend a potluck style event were you can bring a dish and sample others so bring something healthy, or bring something sweet, just bring something good to eat.
You all will want to save the date on the calendar for this one.
June 30th 12:00 at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
2030 SE Marine Science Dr, Newport, OR 97365
And for those of you who don't know the facility has had a recent overhaul a couple months back improving just about everything there is, so it should have plenty new to see even for those of us who have attended the previous years. And if all this wasn't enough reason to come out, the director Sid is going to take us to a different wing of the marine center and give us a personal hands on fish health workshop demonstration! Here are a few pics from last years killer presentation.

Last year this was an amazing experience in which we learned a number of protocols implemented in a facility like the HMSC including skin scrapes, gill samples, microscope identifications, and health assessment.

I mean who wouldn't want to get the knowledge and experience of this kind of nitty gritty tooth and claw kind of stuff!. There is much to see and learn here.

Say AAAHHHH Mr. Wolf Eel, its time for your check up.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Holy Smokes!  you all feel the same way about that last gathering as I do?
      That meeting was Amazing!
It was probably the biggest and bestest shindig I have ever seen at Jeff's shop, wall to wall people, Boomin music, great corals, and really good food. Jeff and the PNWMAS Club really came through for this one folks. I am glad I did not miss out on this.

Before even entering the building there were two tables of various side dishes and condiments provided along with a number of dishes brought by some of the members attending. There were also plenty of "Refreshments" on hand...I swear I saw a keg around there somewhere, but no jello shots like the party bus.

We were all fortunate to have Chef Scott as our on hand grill man, working not one but two at a time! Thank you so much for coming in and manning those grills, you did it like a champ, and great food as always. Spectra is a man of many talents, so lets give him a mental applause for a moment.
And as usual the store was looking good...And Packed.

Packed with customers AND Corals! This was no joke!

Whatever you needed they about had it, Acroporas CHECK, Zoanthids CHECK, Bomb Mushrooms CHECK!

I think this gentleman and I had the same feeling, this is so feaking cool I have no idea where to begin. A cooler in hand is a good place to start though, I like that kind of thinking.
As many of you know there were a few group buys for this meeting in particular and I think it all worked out rather well.

Here we have PDXmonkey on the left scoping out a nice anemone to take home, which was hard because they were all very nice. Gill&Fin top middle was doing the wet work of getting those anemones bagged and handed out. And far right is Emerald being of assist in getting things in order, there were ALOT of participants on this one.

Gumby on the left going in for a frag of that delicious looking CNC Acropora that is going up on another Grow Out contest.I believe that contest is being put together by the man to the right of Jim, ReefNJunkie. Eye on the prize, bragging rights and a very nice Acro.

And then there was the happy recipients of the CNC Acans and the Zoanthid Grow Out contest frags. Fishoutofwater Let the games begin!!!
So Many people and so little time, at every tank in the store was a friendly conversation going on about the salt water hobby.

Optimus Prime, left, looking into what Stylaster, Right, is pointing at. A killer Acro no doubt, he has an eye for that reef candy and there is plenty of that here at CNC.
The owner of Cuttlfish and Corals sees to it that there is no shortage of ocean goodness in stock, and speak of the devil.

Here he is, the man himself. Thank You Jeff, for opening your store to us, helping out on the raffles, and for just being an all round cool guy. You and your crew did a bang up job, it was great and everything went like clock work, tell your staff that we appreciate them as well.

Jorge right here working non stop while the meeting was rockin, he didn't skip a beat.

Jack was also being put to the test with all the foot traffic in the shop but he was bagging livestock like it weren't no thing. At some points it was pretty intense but he kept his cool...Even when  the sumps kept running low from all  the bags of water taken out of it.
Just watching him made me want to grab some coral of my own to take  back  home.

Anyone need a frag!? Why yes Miles, Yes I do. MilesMiles here leading the way to a nice looking batch. Hope the move went alright my man, feel free to hit me up when things settle down and you are wanting a couple frags again.

Paratore here, getting a complete photo bomb by Lewisfisherman. A couple of real Zoa nuts, I need to swing by both your places at some point to check out the systems and get a trade on.

Kai here plotting the next course of action. Don't worry buddy, the crowds are thick but there tanks are full, plenty for all.

One of my main homies from the West Side! HigherThinking came over and brought me a beautiful favia, just because he is a nice guy. I will return the favor Andrew, you can bet on that my friend.

I usually see David on the other side of the table, with me buying coral frags, nice seeing you able to enjoy yourself man.

ZoroReef, sounds like your new system is coming along just fine, and it sounds like you are being very selective on what is going in to the new tank. Just the most exquisite pieces yeah, the man knows what he wants.

Trailerman getting his raffle on, he always seems to have a smile on his face, raffle or not, winning or not.

And yet Another Sasquatch sighting, no doubt the party at Jeff's brought him out of hiding once again. And why are you not in the Zoa grow out!?

Kasah Left, and Walt right, didn't get to chat with these gentlemen this time around but I do believe I will be competing in the Zoa GO against Kassah. Watch out man, these polyps are just getting ready to slip the jab.

Rudy also came by and said whats up, The Golden Basket hanging in Cuttlefish and Corals, very cool. Rudy is opening up his place next month for the May meeting so be on the look out for more details on that.

Danlu on the right having a good conversation with Gumby to the left. Looking forward to seeing some of the new advancements being made on the lighting frontier, keep us posted would you Daniel. And Jim, once I get my act together I will get you another little package going on of frags.

Sharklover just chillin, once again we didn't get to talk much, but be sure there will be a next time.

Lexinverts and Jeff having another in depth conversation. That Redsea reboot should be about past all its cycling stages and what not, I can get that slimer back to you when your ready.

Well Jim here has been all over the place hasn't he? To the far left is KKnight our TFT coordinator. In the background you can kind of see R-3 and Paratore having a good old time...And obviously the man on the far right holding the fish food is Gumby.

Look here, as cool as a cucumber it is our very own Albertareef! Always wiling to lend a helping hand, a stand up guy,  and now I believe he is about to get those raffles going on.

Willapa taking away the Molokos Certificate, get that panini while you snag a frag man. A win win in Portland.

Exodus got the Avast certificate he wanted, although I am not too sure you really need anything else for your system. It is pretty solid right now as is.

Kingifhser got hooked up with the Coral magazine subsciption, YES!

SRRoberts on the left in disbelief of Spectra, middle left, winning double time on the CNC gift certificates. Yeah Buddy!

SAY WHAT!!! Paratore in for the Win! Radion in the Bag! Congratulations man, it is a sweet prize for sure, put it to good use yeah.
Another thing that was cool was there was a number of families that attended, it is always nice to see a reefer educating his children in the hobby and the club interactions we partake in. Keeping a reef together takes alot of knowledge so get em started early. Here are some nice looking families in the hobby.

Ron coming in and just dominating the rock flower anemone buy...The little tyke just couldn't take it anymore and went down for a nap. But I bet once those anemones are all opened up in the same spot they just POP and this kid will dig the in tank fireworks.

Here Jeremyevens was equipped with the front baby harness, so this kid could get the best view of the frag tanks. Very clever.

DJ came over from West Linn, always nice chatting with you man, and good to see the fam.

We all got to see Robyna and BlackIce with their new baby.

      Just look at this kid.

And isn't this shirt just too much? Love It!!! Grow that one out for sure.
There were plenty of familiar and unfamiliar faces at the meeting and I love that, just the right mix were people all feel welcome and just start opening up to one another.

Here, Corals make everyone happy, its like a reefer ice breaker, just look at the smiles here...Genuine good times.

And yet another cheerful hobbyist, Tesch with the contagious grin, the vibe in this room is so amazing. All the folks here are on the same wave length.

Kevin just happy to be here it seems, and who wouldn't be in this kind of reefer party. It was about as good as anyone could hope for really.
I have some more pictures that I can post up but I would also like to see some of the other pictures different people got of that day, you can only have so many vantage point by yourself yeah.
I want to say a BIG Thank You to all those involved, you know who you are Holy, Albertareeff, FlahyFins,...Especially Emerald for getting this all together and to Jeff for puling a lot of strings for us. The club appreciates it.
I had a great time and from what I can tell so dd everyone else, this was a Grand event.
Love you all, Reef On my PNWMAS People! Be seeing you on the forum yeah....And at our next meet.
      Whoop Whoop!!!
