SkimmyPete
I've had this tang for a week. It's been in quarantine the entire time, and yesterday I noticed this mark on the side. Assuming I can get the pictures to work, does anybody recognize this? <div style="width:480px;text-align:right;"><embed width="480" height="360" src="http://pic2.pbsrc.com/flash/rss_slideshow.swf" flashvars="rssFeed=http://feed36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/boases/feed.rss"type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" /><a href="javascript:void(0);" target="_blank"><img src=" http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_geturs.gif" style="border:none;" /></a><a href="http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/boases/" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/share/icons/embed/btn_viewall.gif" style="border:none;" alt="boases's album on Photobucket" /></a></div> Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Emerald525
Good picture. Are their rocks or anything else in quarantine that it could have scratched itself on?
SkimmyPete
Good picture. Are their rocks or anything else in quarantine that it could have scratched itself on?Nope. Just PVC, a heater, a power head, and the plastic tube to the circulation pump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The ReefBox
Looks like a fluke to me possibly
Emerald525
It doesn't look like any sort of disease to me like ich or velvet to me. Does the fish look healthy still eating and moving around?

SkimmyPete
Looks like a fluke to me possiblyFor the sake of the fish, I hope it's not flukes. I'll have to do some research on treating that if it's the case. Either way, this is much less stressful since it's in a bare quarantine tank! IntoTheMystic
I can't really tell what's going on there from the images. I can discern what looks like might be a mild abrasion but if it is, it looks pretty shallow. Don't see any inflammation as yet either. Monitor it for any sign of swelling or infection. Try to view that site from above to gauge changes (or lack thereof, cheers!) What is the size of the animal for scale?

I'll keep a close eye on it for a long stretch and see what changes. Thanks to all for the advice! Bevo5
Just seems like coloration to me - but yeah, keep on eye on it. If it is flukes - fairly easy to cure. Prazipro works wonders and is easy on the fish. I normally give every fish in QT a Prazi and Cupramine treatment. Some don't. Personal preference. zondebok
Mine had a spot that looked almost identical to that, but he seems healthy and it seems to be fading some as he grows.
