WAVES
I have a very unusual issue... I use a Sprint PCS USB modem. yes USB. its like a USB Dongle that is PCS internet. The issue. I need to create a network so I can have an additional computer access the internet through my current computer. I cannot seem to get the laptop and the desktop to communicate, let alone give the laptop an internet connection. Ideas?
dsoz
Do you have a crossover cable? If they are being connected without a router (direct connect) you need a crossover cable. If you have a router (or wireless network) you don't need the crossover. That is about as much as I can help. My son is the one that set up my home network. If noone else can help you, he could probably spend a couple of hours either Tuesday or Wednesday looking at your problem. No promises that he can help or fix the issue. dsoz
Twitterbait
Hey Joel, Drop me a line. I need to know, are you using a router or just trying to connect them toeach other straight? once you get them networked you should have no problem using the one to allow both to access the internet. rspring
Both dsoz and Twitterbait are right. You'll need a crossover cable to get them to talk to each other with out a small hub or router. I'm not sure if a Best Buy or Office Depot would have one, though a small computer shop might have one or be able to make you one. If you have a problem getting things hooked up, it'll give me an excuse to come by for another visit.
